Bebot iPhone and iPad App

Can’t believe I didn’t post this a long time ago. This is one of my all time favorite apps. All my friends have it and it is one of those apps that fit the “smart phones make people do dumb things” category =) It’s great for improvising, jammin out with your friends, whaling out a solo, and more. Djs, did I mention it’s also good for creating Dirty Dutch leads, blistering Mord Fustang-esque solos, and pitch ramp build ups? *hint**hint* Good on both iPhone and iPad!

What a great update for this app v 1.8. I didn’t know they cared =)

What’s new:

New sub-oscillator lets you make huge, more complex sounds.
Bebot is no longer affected by your device’s mute/silent settings.
More control over the overdrive distortion effect to provide greater versatility.
User-editable preset file format allows you to organize and share your library of sounds.
12 additional factory presets provide a variety of new sounds and demonstrate new features.

Part robot, Part synth – Bebot is a musical synthesizer with a unique multitouch control method and a versatile sound engine.

Featuring four different synthesis modes, juicy analog-sounding filters, effects and overdrive distortion, Bebot is a feature-packed polyphonic synthesizer, offering a wide range of sounds and a high degree of control via the multitouch screen.

Musicians and non-musicians alike will find that the autotune system and user-programmable scales help you to play in tune with ease. Don’t just listen to your iPod music – play along! Or simply have fun making noises with your fingers, and watch the animated robot sing along.

Bebot has been used both on-stage and in the studio by major recording artists, including Dream Theater and How To Destroy Angels. Not bad for a little cartoon robot!

Hang Drum For iPad

Been saving up for that Hang, but don’t have quite enough yet? You can get busy on our version of the infamous steel instrument. Start it up, bang away, even record your own loop to play along with. So authentic, your friends will think yours has already arrived. Fill them in on the secret, and they too can download and record their own creations. Do I hear a “Hang out”???

Little bit of information about the Hang … The Hang is a steel percussion instrument that is typically played using the hands and fingers while it rests in the musician’s lap. It was developed in Switzerland in 2000 by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer. There are currently 5 generation models.

Ours is a first generation Hang that defaults to the Aeolian tuning with a D3 central note and a A3 C4 D4 E4 F4 G4 A4 tone loop. The eight notes are arranged in a ‘Tone Circle’ that zig-zag from low to high and are harmonically tuned around the low ‘Ding’ note in the center. Select from 45 tunings including microtonal tunings. These various tunings can be mixed into loops that are being constructed.

Many thanks and kudos to Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer for creating such a unique, elegant, and fun instrument. For more information about the origin of the Hang, to hear some sound samples, or just to see someone kickin’ it, visit one of the following:

The loop recording in all of the OddTunes apps is roughly modelled after the Gibson / Oberheim Echoplex Digital Pro. While there are only a few buttons, there is much more functionality there than meets the eye.

* 45 tunings!
* Includes micro-tuned scales
* Loops can contain notes from multiple tunings
* Strike logic completely rewritten to allow more simultaneous or near-simultaneous strikes
* Muted notes are now in the 4 corners and are not dependent upon holding a note
* Settings menu
* Strike animation (can be turned off for performance reasons)
* Start loops on first strike option. Now get a perfect loop every time!
*iPad Support

All of the original tunings for the first generation Hang are included plus more that have been used with Hangs.

Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro.
