Melodyne Style Pitch Correction App For iOS
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , , ,

Vocal Tune Studio, pitch and time correction app for vocal recordings is now finally here on your iPhone or iPad! Use it as an Audio Unit effect inside your favourite DAW or in standalone mode. Get it now for a discounted intro price.

From popular effects to subtile correction:

Retune notes to achieve the popular auto tune effect or apply a more subtle correction. Besides pitch correction, notes can be corrected for timing and volume level as well.

Deep editing:

Each individual note can be adjusted for retune time, retune amount, volume and the amount of formant correction. Artificial vibrato can also be added and adjusted to taste using the vibrato depth and rate controls and settings to adjust the time when the vibrato kicks in and the time in which it reaches the full vibrato depth to obtain a natural sounding vibrato.

Key and scale detection:

Vocal Tune Studio can detect the key and scale of a vocal recording automatically or a key and scale can be manually chosen.

Two workflows:

Choose between two workflows similar to popular desktop vocal tune software: start with either all notes quantised (corrected) or non-quantised. When choosing non-quantised, an additional Pitch Quantisation slider lets you move notes between their original sung pitch and the target pitch within the selected key and scale.

Time correction as a bonus for all audio material:

Aside from vocal pitch correction, Vocal Tune Studio also features a generic time correction/stretching mode which works on any type of audio material (not only vocals, but also guitars etc.). In this mode, any part of a recording that was played off-beat can be time corrected without affecting parts that were recorded in time.

Export MIDI:

Besides the host’s ability to render the effect to an audio file, the identified notes can also be exported as standard MIDI file.

Standalone mode:

Besides being a AUv3 plug-in, you can also run the app standalone. Record audio directly, import an audio file or paste an audio file from the iOS clipboard. After pitch and/or time correction, you can export audio to a FLAC file.

Note:

Vocal Tune Studio is also available within our DAW, Audio Evolution Mobile Studio and offers much higher integration there, not requiring to ‘record’ the audio first into Vocal Tune Studio.

Speldosa Wintergatan Music Box iOS

Speldosa Wintergatan Music Box

Speldosa (Wintergatan Music Box) is an Audio Unit instrument, the result of a unique collaboration between Klevgrand and the Swedish artist Wintergatan/Martin Molin. Wintergatan has primarily worked in the physical world (the Marble Machine is probably the most astonishing example), while Klevgrand has performed its craft within the digital sphere. When these two worlds now meet, the result is something that both visually and aurally inspires the creation of new compelling melodies.

Speldosa (Swedish for “Music Box”) is the essence of the shared beliefs of Klevgrand and Wintergatan, and their fascination with minimalism. A simple melody played on a music box can contain an equal amount of emotional power as any symphonic work. There is something about the music box sound that never ceases to fascinate.

The instrument itself has been meticulously recorded by Wintergatan and transformed into a playable digital instrument plugin. It features four different models (Modern, Vintage, Antique, and Eternal = Reversed), two different Room models, and an algorithmic reverb.

Wintergatan about Speldosa:

“I created the sound by sampling a music box using an acoustic guitar as resonance box. I chose the best samples and it was instant magic. The Music Box went on to become the sonic signature for my two bands, Detektivbyrån and Wintergatan, both recognised for their unique sound. The Speldosa has been the secret sauce in my music career and i hope other musicians finds it as useful as I have.

There is a special quality to this exact music box sound that lifts it above the novelty feeling of a toy and turns it into a real music instrument. It just sounds so good, that’s really it. And it is a sound that makes you write music instantly – the music comes from the sound itself.

During the collaboration with Klevgrand, when they sent me the first beta version of the plugin, i ended up playing around with the sound for three hours, losing track of time. I wrote three songs that day when i was scheduled to actually do something else. That’s what the sound does to me, and i think it will do the same for others.”

Features:

– Four different music box characters
– Two room ambiences
– Spacious reverb
– Optional vibrato
– Output level

Pitch Drift Free Cassette Vibrato Effect

Free vibrato app for iOS

Pitch Drift is a free AUv3 cassette style vibrato effect plugin by Baby Audio that introduces organic-sounding pitch fluctuations. It can range from subtle instabilities that make your instruments sound more natural and less sterile – to intense pitch drifting that will make your tracks clearly out of tune.

Controls:
Pitch Drift lets you control the depth and speed of the pitch fluctuations in a simple interface. It is powered by the “Drift” algorithm in Baby Audio’s Super VHS plugin and offers the same natural and pleasing fluctuation effect.

Inspired by real instruments:
One of the appeals of acoustic instruments is that they are never 100% in tune 100% of the time. These subtle pitch fluctuations compound when you bring multiple instruments together in a mix, making the music sound richer and more dynamic.

However, in the computer-era this concept is sometimes lost. Pitch Drift makes it fast and easy to break the spell of digital pitch perfection and get your tracks to vibrate a little more. It generally works best at subtle levels on sustained tonal instruments or entire mix busses. As a rule of thumb, the less sustained your source is, the faster you want the speed parameter to be set.

Vintage Rack Effects for iOS

Vintage Rack Effects for iOS

Igor Vasiliev announces his latest app with an intro price until the first major update.

VintageRack is a minimalistic and convenient multi-effect application that contains modules realistically simulating notable retro gear from the early digital age with their natural lo-fi and warm aesthetics. Most of the effects in this application have been inspired and based on the principles of actual hardware from the 70s and 80s, which is great for giving the sound of any instrument the nostalgic and emotional mood of old recordings.

This application has a clean and intuitive user interface with a well-considered structure. All controls are located on the main screen, which is divided into seven slots for processing (effect) modules. The first slot contains the module for controlling the input, the last one is for controlling the output. Each of the five slots in between are designed to use one of the effect modules. The input signal passes from the first to the last slot and is then sent to the output.

Each slot has a Master Fader that controls the presence of the effect, and a Mute button that smoothly turns the effect on and off. These controls are available to be assigned to a MIDI controller, or to use as audio unit parameters regardless of the type of module in the slot. Also in each slot, there is a Parameters button that opens a panel of additional parameters for each module. Additional parameters of modules are kept to a minimum and represent the most suitable use cases.

The key idea behind application control is to first adjust the parameters of modules, and then use only the Master Fader to change the presence or depth of the effect and the Mute button to turn it on and off. Everything is geared towards fast and easy use.

Another great feature of VintageRack is the ability to set a lower bit depth of processed signal, typical for early digital devices, both for the entire path and for individual modules. As with these devices, this application simulates pre- and post-processing of the analog signal both before and after the digital circuits with the addition of companders, emphasis and filters, which makes the sound similar to the real devices.

Effect modules:

– Analog-style compressor.
– Three band equalizer typical for mixing consoles.
– Classic and reverse delays with modulation feature.
– Two modules of Chorus simulating two well known devices.
– Two modules of Flanger with different options and tones.
– Two modules of Phaser with various sound character.
– AutoWah with several filters based on envelope generator.
– Combined effect of Tremolo and Vibrato with separate rate.
– Ring modulator with additional modulation of carrier.
– Two types of Fuzz with modulated filters.
– Simulation of one of the early digital reverbs.
– Input slot contains Noise gate and Automatic gain control.
– Output slot contains tape-style saturation and three general types of tonestack.

VintageRack is a universal application for iOS and macOS. It can work on iPhone and iPad as well as Mac / MacBook with M1 chip (and later). VintageRack works on iPhone and iPad standalone, as an Audio Unit or Inter-App Audio module, and supports Audiobus and Ableton Link. On MacOS, VintageRack can works both as a standalone application and as an Audio unit (AUv3) with DAWs and audio unit hosts like Ableton Live, Logic Pro, GarageBand, MainStage, Cockos Reaper, Plogue Bidule, Hosting AU, and other hosts that support AUv3 plugins. All application features are available on iOS and macOS, including MIDI support (with a MIDI learn option) and audio unit parameters. VintageRack has a built-in detailed description of all parameters also available as PDF file on the application site.
