MIDI Guitar is the world’s first app to transcribe guitar playing into MIDI in real-time, with latency and accuracy comparable to expensive and inconvenient hardware MIDI guitar solutions. Play any synth or virtual instrument with your trusted old guitar, or record tablature by playing it.
MIDI guitar is 8 years under development and based upon new advances in polyphonic pitch detection and prediction technology. It can accurately recognize guitar playing and articulation with very low latency and without spurious hits. The technology has been tested by thousands of beta testers.
What’s New in Version 2.1.3
MIDI Guitar 2 is finally here on iOS!
Everything is improved. Tracking in particular.
ATTENTION! old customers: Don’t upgrade yet if you have old iDevices (iPad2/3 or iPhone4)
ATTENTION! old customers: Please “Restore” your old purchase in the built-in shop.
MIDI Guitar uses Virtual MIDI to contorl other iOS synth apps or Garageband. It can also use WIFI-MIDI to communicate with Mac or PC digital audio workstations in a frictionless setup. Cable based MIDI to control hardware synths or connect to DAWs with lowest possible latency.
In order to use MIDI Guitar you need a iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPod 6 or later. You also need a guitar interface for best results. We recommend a digital interface (using the lightning connector) over analog (via headphone jack), preferably with input gain control. Using an acoustic guitar with the built in microphone works for some purposes but is not optimal.
The free version will interrupt now and then, asking you to buy an in-app purchase. There are two in-app purchases. The first one gives you the full guitar rig and unlocks everything in the app EXCEPT the possibility to play external synths. For that you need the second in-app purchase, in addition.

fluXpad is the first sample sequencer that fully functions by simply drawing the sounds. In fluXpad it’s super simple to record your own sounds, to create different pattern and to jam with them. fluXpad is a sample based groovebox/workstation with a highly original sequencer, where you “draw“ your music, which leads to completely different results, when compared to a traditional sequencer. The y-axis of your canvas controls pitch, while the x-axis controls the sustain of your notes. Sounds familiar, but drawing on a canvas without any grid is a totally new experience. Of course it is possible to quantize your notes, or you can limit your note range to major or minor scales.
fluXpad has been developed by Mouse on Mars and Jan Trützschler
Features:
– 6 melody sequencers where you paint your melodies based on a sample of your choice
– 1 percussion/drum sequencer where you paint/tap your groove made of 7 samples of your choice
– record mode: either paint your sequence (on the top) or tap your notes (at the bottom)
– each sound has it’s own sampler settings with unique envelope, loop and start settings
– quantize / unquantize functions for each sequencer or the whole pattern
– 7 patterns to jam with, for each preset
– ability to record your own samples with the build in microphone
– import samples via iTunes or AudioShare
– huge sample library with high quality sounds/kits made by Mouse on Mars and others
– lots of demo projects made by Mouse and Mars and others
– ability buy new projects/sounds via In-App-Purchase
– ability to export/backup your projects (including sounds)

iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle).
You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Loopmasters and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
