Cache Sample Browser for iOS

CACHE – AUv3 Sample Browser

Browse, play and drag & drop.

CACHE is a fast and simple sample browser for iPhone, iPad, and AUv3 hosts. It lets you open your own sample folders, browse collections instantly, preview audio files, detect sample key, and drag sounds straight into compatible apps and hosts.

Built for producers who work across iOS and iPadOS, CACHE solves a problem that has been strangely overlooked for years: some DAWs and AUv3 hosts still don’t include a proper sample browser. Until now, that often meant digging through Files, switching between apps, and dragging samples in from outside your music workflow. CACHE puts that missing browser exactly where you need it.

Use CACHE to:

  • Browse your own sample folders and subfolders
  • Preview one-shots and loops quickly
  • Detect likely sample key for one-shots
  • Drag samples directly into compatible DAWs, hosts, and apps
  • Access collections from local storage, cloud locations, or external drives

In summary: CACHE is a lightweight sample browser for iOS that lets you quickly navigate your own sound libraries, preview audio files, detect their key, and drag them directly into music apps or AUv3 hosts. It doesn’t store or include samples—it simply gives you a fast, organized way to access and use the ones you already have, wherever they’re saved.

CACHE does not include any samples and does not make sound on its own beyond sample preview. You must supply your own sample folders.

CACHE also does not copy or store your samples internally. It simply bookmarks and browses the folders you choose, so it won’t take up extra storage space with duplicate sample libraries. This makes it especially useful if your sounds live on external storage or outside the app itself.

Cache is available in the AppStore HERE

Brusfri Noise Reducer App
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , ,

Brusfri* is a highly advanced audio noise reducer, packed into a simple and straight-forward interface. It is very well suited for cleaning up noisy audio recordings, while retaining sound quality. Unlike many other noise reducers on the market, Brusfri doesn’t mess with audio phasing to suppress noise (a technique that often comes with audible side effects). Instead, multiple fine-tuned gates are used to silence unwanted noise.

*Brusfri means “Noise free” in Swedish.

IMPORTANT! Brusfri is currently AUv3 only, which means it won’t work in stand alone mode. It must be used as a plugin with Garageband, Cubasis, Auria, AUM, AudioBus 3 (not AudioBus 2) or any AUv3 compatible host. If you’re not sure what AUv3 is, do not buy this app.

Here are some examples of sound conditions that Brusfri handles well:

* Guitar amp
* Noisy vintage gear
* Boosted pre-amp
* iPhone/iPad and external mic hiss
* Room reverb removal
* Fan noise
* Background ambiance
* Mains hum / Electric hum

Press “Learn” during a couple of seconds of isolated noise to record a “profile” for noise.

Use:

Open Brusfri in any AUv3 compatible host.
Find a region in the recording that only contains noise and play it.
Tap and hold the “LEARN” button for a short while (a second will be enough)
When the LEARN button is released, Brusfri starts reducing noise.

There is also a bunch of parameters available that affects the noise reduction algorithm:

ATK / THRS / REL (Attack Time / Threshold / Release Time)

Threshold – basically determines how much noise to be removed. A lower value means more reduction

Attack and Release sets the time it will take for the reducer to start working.

EDGE

Controls the reduction aggressivity. A lower value gives a smoother reduction.

HPF

Reduces low frequencies.

HIGH

Compensates high frequencies by boosting them.

NOTE! Brusfri is CPU intensive and iPhone 6S / iPad AIR 2 or better is recommended. We highly recommend freezing/bouncing tracks to reduce CPU usage.

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Native Instruments, The Grammt Museum and many more.
