Kaossonome For iPad

What would happen if you crossed a Monome with a Kaossilator? You would get the Kaossonome by Alexander Randon, an instrument inspired by Korg’s Kaossilator and the Monome. It features Kaoss Pad-like sampling programs and is fully Monome 256 compliant. Additional programs include an algorithmic step sequencer, a beat synced sample chopping performance controller, and many more.

Now you can get the iPad version of this device. It’s called the Arpeggionome. The Arpeggionome is a musical instrument designed specifically for the iPad. With the Arpeggionome, you can design and perform intricate patterns of musical notes at incredible speeds and with precise control.

MUSICAL EXPRESSION AT 480 NOTES PER SECOND.
The Performance Matrix is the Arpeggionome’s main musical interface. Touch any Control Point in the Performance Matrix to trigger the notes in the pattern.
• Move your finger left and right to set the reference-note of the pattern.
• Move your finger up and down to set the pattern’s speed.

• Control up to 480 notes per second, nearly 30,000 notes per minute.

VIBRATO AND TREMOLO, ESSENTIAL FOR 8-BIT SOLOS.
The iPad’s accelerometer controls vibrato and tremolo.

• For expressive changes in pitch, tilt the iPad left and right to apply vibrato.
• For expressive changes in volume, tilt the iPad forward and backward to apply tremolo.

DESIGN AN ARPEGGIO FROM SCRATCH…
Eight touch-knobs are used to design the Arpeggionome’s pattern. The touch-knobs are also great for performance. They can be changed in real-time, and then double-tapped back to their saved value.

• Key & Scale – sets the key and scale of the pattern.
• Octave Range – sets the starting and ending octaves of the pattern.
• Octave Style – sets how the pattern moves between octaves
.
• Control Range – sets the placement of the Control Points.
• Notes – sets the number of unique notes that will be triggered
.
• Step Distance – sets the distance between each note of the pattern
.
• Notes Style – sets how the pattern moves between notes
.
• Tempo – Sets

 the global tempo.

…OR USE A PRESET.
The Arpeggionome includes a Pattern Library with a wide selection of presets. You can also save your own patterns to the Pattern Library.

BEAUTIFUL AND INFORMATIVE VISUAL FEEDBACK.

The Arpeggionome provides visual feedback for your position in the Performance Matrix, every note you trigger, vibrato amount, and tremolo amount.

• Your position in the Performance Matrix is represented by the intersection of two green lines.

• Every note you trigger flashes green in the keyboard above the Performance Matrix.

• Vibrato and tremolo are represented by the two sliders below the Performance Matrix.

OTHER FEATURES
.
• Includes an interactive tutorial.

• Can be used as a tool for learning music theory.
• iPad HD ready.

The Arpeggionome is available for $4.99

ChipPad Looping App For iPad

chipPad IS ON SALE! ONE OF THE VERY FIRST iPad MUSIC APPS IS NOW 66% OFF UNTIL 2012! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

chipPad is a multi-track sample and loop playback and performance application.

It is made for the musician who creates loop-based music and is looking to experiment with on-the-fly arrangements or to glitch it up a notch. This application does not make music for you – you need to provide the clips that you create with your other instruments.

By adding your own pre-cut loops on up to 8 tracks you can perform using various “grid-based” controller techniques and develop new ones that are only capable on a multi-touch device.

Sliding one or multiple fingers back and forth on various tracks or tapping rhythms like on a drum machine can yield some amazing results you can’t hear elsewhere.

chipPad comes with a few sample sessions to get you started. Simply select Help from the Gear menu to get started or load your own AIF or WAV audio files into the app using File Sharing via iTunes.

FEATURES AT A GLANCE

8 stereo tracks · AIF/WAV support · up to 128 steps per track · saves sessions and loads them quickly · quarter/half/double speed · 4 mute groups · bit mode · loop mode · reverse · per track volume faders · per track mute & solo · microfades · optional track display · master volume fader · scenes · multi-touch · portrait or landscape · practically zero latency · built-in help and sample sessions · made for musicians who create their own music · supports audio files of practically any length · manage audio files using file sharing via iTunes · load audio, create some sessions, take it with you and jam on the commute · amazing performance feel

Beat Shuffler iPad Beat Slicer

iPad Beat Slicing App

25% OFF Introductory price, until the new version with AudioCopy is released.

Beatshuffler is a music app that slices loops and allows you to trigger those slices, always on time. It is a great beat sketching tool where almost everything sounds interesting, since the slice triggering always falls on the beat. At its core, it is inspired by the mlrv app, for the Monome and other grid devices.

I bought this app and here are my thoughts. Cons: You can not sequence the slices. There is no stop button. You can not sequence effects changes. There is no tap tempo. Changing the tempo is cumbersome. There is no way to enter the desired tempo in. No Audio Copy. Pros: Good for live slice triggering. Audio Copy on the way.

NOTE – Ability to import WAV and MP3 files. I do not recommend MP3s as they can’t loop properly. I recommend wav or OGG

It features:
– 6 tracks for loops.
– Ability to import WAV and MP3 files.
– iOS File Sharing import for exchanging files with the app.
– A mixer.
– A master channel with effects.
– A separate channel for each of the tracks, with effects.
– Available effects: Delay and Low Pass Filter.

Among the upcoming features are Audio Clipboard support, to import loops from other apps and an expanded loop library.

Beat Shuffler is available for $2.99 for a limited time.

We recommend checking out Steinberg’s LoopMash http://ipadloops.com/loopmash-app/ for something along the same lines with more features

  • iPad Loops is a music app blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps for iOS musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my loops are Retronyms AudioCopy, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic, and Audio Elements. My work is published by Magix Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Xmix, and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
