Audio Damage Discord4 Multi Effects
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Discord4 is the latest version of our most popular and long-lived product, our Discord stereo pitch shifter. Originally modeled from the H910, Discord has long since become its own effect and a studio standby, and this version includes major additions to further stretch its capabilities. This application includes a stand-alone version (with Inter-App Audio) and an AUv3 effect for use in hosts that support that format, such as Beatmaker 3, AUM, Cubasis, and Garageband. A full PDF manual is available at the Audio Damage website.

Discord4 consists of three separate algorithms: a “vintage” mode (the original Discord algorithm, modeled on the Eventide H910 and H949), a “clean” mode for more modern shifting sounds, and a “granular” mode for experimental effects. Each mode has its strengths, depending on the input material, and Discord3 has a broad palette of capabilities as a result. The P1 and P2 algorithms have full control over the buffer (window) size of the shift effect, for fine tuning the shift to the input signal, or for stranger sound effects. At the extremes of the six-octave shift range, some truly strange aliasing and artifacts can be had with this control.

Discord4 retains its pair of tempo-synced delays and bandpass filters from previous versions, and adds a reverb in the feedback loop (for easy access to “shimmer” effects). We have also replaced the modulation sources from the original with our all-new FLFO (Flexible LFO) design. Panorama controls are included to control the stereo width of the wet signal. Finally, soft saturation and limiting have been added or improved throughout the signal path, for an overall improved sound and added vintage-style warmth, and to allow for extreme feedback experiments without fear of overloading your DAW’s channel.

• Pitch Shifting: Discord4 contains a pair of shifters with three separate algorithms (Vintage, Clean, and Granular) for different styles of pitch shifting.

• Buffer Size Control: The P1 (Vintage) and P2 (Clean) algorithms have a Buffer Size control, from 32 to 2048 samples, for fine-tuning the pitch shifting effect.

• Delay: Tempo-synced or free-running delays with feedback, cross-feedback, and a sophisticated bandpass filter.

• Reverb: A simple stereo reverb is added to the feedback path, for “shimmer” effects and further sound exploration.

• Modulation: Two of our new FLFO (Flexible Low-Frequency Oscillator) with tempo sync and an arbitrary waveform, capable of a nearly infinite number of modulation shapes using only three controls.

• True Stereo Operation: Discord4 has a true stereo signal path, with entirely independent control over each side, finishing with panorama settings for stereo width.

• MIDI Note Control: Six octaves of pitch-shifting can be controlled with MIDI note input.

• All-New GUI: Vector-based resizable user interface.

• Presets: Cross-platform XML-based preset manager.

Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

Filterstation2 is the Audio Damage take on the classic serial/parallel/stereo dual filter topology, made famous (and some would say “indispensable”) by the Sherman Filterbank and its many clones. With twelve filter algorithms, an envelope follower with stereo sidechain input, a full FSU section for extra signal hacking, and an easy-to-use interface, Filterstation2 is a valuable addition to any producer’s toolkit.

• Twelve different filter algorithms, including MS20 emulation and our classic 914 bandpass and Filterpod lowpass models.

• VCA mode for tremolo and gate effects.

• LFO with twelve different patterns, and both internal and tempo sync modes.

• Envelope follower for dynamic control of filter frequency.

• Serial, parallel, and true stereo operating modes.

• Easy-to use interface for quick programming.

• Vector-based resizable GUI. Use just the filter screen, slide the controls over it, or (in hosts that allow it) open up the whole UI.

• Cross-platform XML-based preset manager; copy your desktop presets to the iOS version using Handoff, or share them with your friends and in forums.

• Full PDF manual available at Support link.

Shaper Smart Audio Destroyer

Shaper is a multi-fx processor that allows you to redefine or totally destroy any kind of source.

What’s New in Version 1.1
– Universal compatibility
– new sFold transform function

Shaper is perfect in any iOS music workflow:
– as stand alone app to process your outboard equipment
– as inter-app audio in Aubiobus or other compatible daw apps as AUM, Modstep, GarageBand, and so on
– moreover, Shaper is also an awesome Audio Unit Extension!!

Its clear, clean and minimal user interface lets you fall in love so fast with its potential, that after just few minutes of use you’ll feel like it always been one of your favorite music production tools.
Its noise is your noise.

All you need to add a personal touch to your sounds is here. Emphasize your basslines working with waveshaper’s sections blend and color, or increasing the clip’s value (this works great also on drums and acoustic percussive sounds). Blow digital coldness to your synths going wild with S&M and Bits&Samps functions, or increasing wrap or fold values . Add unpredictable dynamic glitches thanks the exclusive gate.

Shaper is composed by several modules, that you can rearrange as you want:
– a glitch gate
– a waveshaper section with 5 brand new inspiring functions: Muffin, Multistress, Cracker, S&M, Bits&Samps
– a transform section with wave-clipper, wave-wrapper, and wave-folder
– a resonator/short delay, that can act as a comb filter too

You choose how to feed it and how to mix it with a gain and a dry/wet section. Two oscilloscopes display audio signals before and after processing: this gives you a realtime visual feedback about how you are morphing your sound wave.

Each parameter offers a range that lets you process the signal so slightly… Or so massively! Changing the order of modules in the chain, makes of Shaper an incredibly versatile sounds processor!

The waveshaper module applies a shaping function to incoming signal. It’s the timbral core of the audio process. Several functions are available: Muffin and Cracker applies a digital warming function with a distinction in the weight that noise takes in the wet signal. Multistress is a bit more fragmentes function, giving a more modulated FM-ish result. These three let user control the process via blend and color parameters. This helps you to apply a different dose of Shaper cure to your sound 😉

S&M is basically an amplitude modulation, driven by ramps; the length parameter here sets the frequency of these. This function brings a like-metal flavour… Raw digital power!

The last function Bits&Samps is a standard bit reducer.

Shaper lets you work fast with gestures support:
– you want to rearrange modules? Just drag them as you prefer and create different chains for different needs
– need instant reset to default value for a parameter? Just double tap on cursor
– fine tuning? Just tap and hold the cursor, then drag it left or right to increase the resolution of your vertical dragging

Shaper is Audiobus presets and state saving compatible. It can also store its status while working in all major host-apps sets as AUM, Modstep, GarageBand, etc. You can also save internal presets, and share them with your collaborators easily.

Bark Filter Multi Band Filter / Compressor
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

The multi band filter in Bark takes the approach to match the reception characteristic of the gate where all sounds must pass through: the human ear. The ear behaves as if it contains a bank of filters, each filter passing frequencies within their respective critical band. Two tones apart more than the frequency dependant critical bandwidth are perceived as separate tones. For this reason Bark contains a filter bank with 27 very steep bandpass filters matching the critical bandwidth characteristic of the human ear. In fact, the human ear have also its own built in multi band compression system which are based on the critical bands.

Why the name Bark ? The Bark scale is a frequency scale on which equal distances correspond with perceptually equal distances. Above about 500 Hz this scale is more or less equal to a logarithmic frequency axis. Below 500 Hz the Bark scale becomes more and more linear.

Multiband compressors can act differently on different frequency bands. The advantage of multiband compression over full-bandwidth compression is that unneeded audible gain changes or “pumping” in other frequency bands is not caused by changing signal levels in a single frequency band. Bark can act both as single band compressor and with up to 27 bands in multiband mode by linking critical bands.

The linear phase filter bank with its steep filter slopes can be used for unusually pronounced filter effects too…

What’s New in Version 1.1.0
– AUv3 Parameter Automation added

• Multi band dynamic range compressor with up to 27 bands
• Variable number of compressor bands (1..27)
• Threshold/Ratio Attack/Release and Makeup Gain
• Linear phase precision filters for maximal transparency
• Real time pre/post processing calibrated spectrum analyser
• AudioUnit for AUv3 compatible hosts.
• Inter-app audio compatible effect.
• Audiobus 3 compatible with state saving.
• Low latency live usage with mic and headphones.
• Audio recorder

MIDIFLOW KEYBOARD allows you to perform music with multiple synth apps at the same time. Use the piano or scale layout to play single notes, and select the chord keyboard for accompaniments.

MIDIFLOW MOTION lets you control effect parameters of other apps – in a way that no touch screen can replace – by moving the device. Set any kind of MIDI command like volume or modulation as output and fine-tune it to the exact motion range you want to perform with. You can even control multiple effects simultaneously.

MIDIFLOW SPLITTER lets you create split and layer configurations in an easy but powerful way. If you play your synth apps with an external keyboard, it is an essential tool for you. Thanks to Audiobus State Saving, everything can be saved and recalled when your show is about to start.

MIDIFLOW LIMITER is a filter and remapper for note velocities. Filter out notes that are too loud or too quiet, or remap them to different values. Use multiple instances to create velocity layers, which trigger different sounds based on the notes’ velocity.

MIDIFLOW SCALES lets you filter out unwanted notes or remap them to a scale. Thin out tracks from a sequencer to create a reduced variation. Prevent wrong notes when playing on a keyboard. Generate harmonies by using the app in combination with Midiflow Transposer.

MIDIFLOW RANDOMIZER can be used to add a human touch to note sequences or to find inspiration. Randomize notes, note velocities, and timing just by specifying a desired range of variations. With the help of Midiflow Scales, you can keep your randomized notes in harmony.

MIDIFLOW TRANSPOSER lets you shift notes by octaves and half-tones. This is useful if you want play an external keyboard in a different tone. You can also use it to create harmonies, i.e. create a second voice in an interval.

MIDIFLOW MONITOR shows you what MIDI is doing in your Audiobus setup. Just add it into one or more MIDI effect ports and the app will print what is going through. This can help you find problems or just understand how MIDI works.
