Genroku is a fun and inexpensive monophonic synthesizer app with voice filter. The sound from oscillator changes like human voice through voice filter. The Voice filter is modulated with the voice motion pattern driven by ADSR envelope; also manually controllable.
YM2151, aka OPM is a single-chip FM synthesis implementation, an eight-channel four-operator sound chip. Emulates the one used in many 80′s arcade games and home computers.

Tonetable is an application for DJs who want to control their digital vinyl system from their iPhone or iPod Touch. It produces a control tone that is compatible with most digital vinyl systems such as Serato’s Scratch Live™, Native Instruments’ Traktor Scratch™, M-Audio’s Torq™, Image-Line’s Deckadance™ and many more.
Tonetable features a large scratching platter that allows you to scratch and throw the virtual vinyl similar to using a real turntable. To use Tonetable with your DJ software simply connect an audio cable from the line out of your iPhone or iPod Touch to your audio interface’s line in.
Tonetable sends timecode the same way your controller vinyl and CDs do.
Features:
- Scratch, throw and pitch bend.
- Pitch slider capable of fine pitch control.
- Configurable control tone (1 kHz – as used by Scratch Live™, 1.2 kHz – as used by Torq™ or 2 kHz as used by Traktor Scratch™).
- 33 or 45 RPM modes.
I decided to experiment with this app today and sadly I have been a bit let down. My plan was to use my iPad iO Dock as an audio interface so that I can send a stereo set of 1/4″ cables from a sound source (in this case a synth on my iPhone) into the iO Dock and then into the app Strange Attractor. The output from the iO Dock stereo pair of 1/4″ cables would then go into my mixer. Unfortunately this did not work. The app does not support audio input from the iO Dock. It only works with audio coming in through the headset mic or the internal microphone which means there is no way to get a stereo set of 1/4″ cables to a mixer and there is no way to get an isolated sound source into the app. I have sent the manufacturer a message with hopes that there is some kinda of setting that I’m missing but I kinda doubt it. I actually really like the sounds generated from this app and it has potential to be a really cool when used in a professional situation IMO if they fixed this issue.
Strange Attractor iPad App Review Set Up
Here is what iTunes says – Strange Attractor is a novel sound generator and effects processor based on chaos theory. At its heart is a feedback system which can spontaneously oscillate, or respond to incoming sounds, processing them into fractal sonic textures.
It generates a wide range of undulating sounds, controlled by touch, which slowly evolve in unpredictable ways. The sound is visualised as an ever-changing dynamic form.
Glitchbreaks is an iOS Universal manipulation tool for “Glitching” breakbeats. Manipulate beats to create new beats and record them. Good for beat slicing and creating complextro loops.
Glitchbreaks uses four audio channels setup like mute groups. You can quickly switch between them to construct new beats, or manipulate loop points to “Cut” or “Glitch” the breaks.
Included in the factory sound set are 90 high quality loops hand crafted by Daniel Myer from Haujobb / Architect / Destroid / and more, Juan Espinosa from Cellmod, Isaac Glendening from Cesium 137, Alex Matheu from Negative Format / Distraub / Parallel Project and more, and Loopmasters: a high quality sample boutique.
Glitchbreaks can be used as a performance tool to juggle breaksbeats or destroy sounds at a granular level. You can make interesting effect-like-sounds by manipulating pitch, loop start, length, and cutting the beats with fluid responsive controls.
You can record your performance and bring it into iTunes through file sharing, or copy it out into another iOS application via Audio Copy and Paste. You pre determine the length of your recording by bars to easily make pieces to bring into a song without the need for further sample editing.
Auto-BPM detection will detect the tempo of a sample you copy into Glitchbreaks (you just need to specify the bars between 1-4). You can turn this feature off in order to manipulate audio that doesn’t have tempo, this is especially useful for manipulating voice samples.
Glitchbreaks contains a 4 channel mixer to adjust the levels of each sample, as you change the levels the sounds are combined into the mix, on the iPad version this is displayed graphically with a rendered waveform that is combined to give you an indication of what the entire sound looks like.
All of this is very easy to operate and even a beginner will be glitching and juggling breaks like a pro in minutes.
