Customizable Midi Controller For iPad

The beauty behind Beatsurfing is the fact that you can create your own custom midi controller straight from your iPad. No computer software needed to design and create your own layouts etc. The creators of this app have gone above and beyond by also giving you Ableton Live scenes that include samples and synths to get you started right away with some great tutorials to boot. Download them here http://beatsurfing.net/learn

Beatsurfing allows you to draw a 3-dimensional controller and use it in two different and complementary ways. You can tap it like you would with your regular MPC or any other beatmaking device, but the best and most innovative use you can make of it is definitely by surfing your fingers along routes, colliding with objects, triggering samples or effects. It’s all about movement, and bringing back this intuitive way to make music.

It can control any MIDI-enabled device (Software, Hardware, or even selected iPad apps through Virtual MIDI), features a very intuitive in-app editing system and integrates seemlessly in any existing Studio or Live setup.

Objects Behaviours can be set to link objects together and multiply the available commands on the surface of the iPad.

BEATSURFING #1: A Simple Demo from Vlek Data on Vimeo.

Beatsurfing was developed by Herrmutt Lobby & Yaniv De Ridder. It’s based on concepts Herrmutt Lobby developed for Hardware MIDI controllers (like the Beatfader and the MIDI scratch devices).

Released by VLEK. PR & Communication coordination by Julien Fournier.

———————————————

→ Draw your own controller
Work with the Controller you need, not the one you were given. Simply draw it on the screen with lines, polygons, circles and faders. Size, color, orientation and 3-Dimensional location are all yours to choose.

→ Surf!
Use the full potential of the iPad touchscreen: You can tap on the screen, but you better add the Surfing to your production and performance skills to integrate more of that human feel in your music.

→ Link any MIDI device
Dj, VJ, Production softwares, Hardware devices, and even selected iPad apps: you can route BEATSURFING to anything that allows for MIDI.

→ Objects Behaviours
Each object of your controller can be set to control the others. It creates a system of objects that allow you to add much more to a controller than what meets the eye.

→ Intuitive In-App editing
Forget about separated editing software, lenghty changes and whatnot. You can swap between the EDIT and PLAY modes at the tap of a finger. All your objects even remain playable when they’re be re-arranged!

Beatsurfing is available for $11.99

iPad Control Surface For Reason

rsTouch provides mobility and multi-touch control for the Propellerhead Reason MIXER & TRANSPORT functions. Screen graphics mimic what you see on Reason’s screen – operate Reason’s transport controls and Main Mixer from the iPad!

With rsTouch and a MIDI connection (USB MIDI or network MIDI over Wi-Fi), you can record playback, and mix Reason songs from anywhere in your studio. Mute or solo any channel to evaluate your mix during playback; adjust mix level, effects sends, even EQ and dynamics. Use the transport controls or “jog strip” to navigate your song; set loop range. The timecode and bar-beat display show the current playback position. Switch between groups of eight mixer channels; channel names and numbers are displayed for easy identification.

Tired of trying to manipulate tiny controls on the Reason Mixer screen with a mouse? rsTouch offers large, usable, color coded multi-touch faders and rotary controls for channel level, pan, send effects, inserts, compressor and gate dynamics, and EQ. Channel meters, master volume meter, and the “Big Meter” provide visual feedback to monitor audio levels.

rsTouch uses Propellerhead’s standard “Remote” control surface system. OSX and Windows installers for the required Reason rsTouch support files are available as a free download from www.delora.com. YOU MUST HAVE THESE FILES INSTALLED AND RUNNING FOR RSTOUCH TO WORK.

We strongly recommend that you read the rsTouch user manual, especially the “Getting Started” section, available at www.delora.com/support/isupport/rstouch_support/rstouch_support.html before purchasing and using rsTouch.

MidiPads For iPhone

It’s finally here for the iPhone folks. Way cool midi controller by Crossfire Design. MidiPads, only available for the iPad since now, has also been released as
version 1.6 for the iPhone. It has got the same features as the iPad version, but to respect the smaller area, it features a slidable layout similar to the Facebook app. Instead of a customizable bottom part, two additional pages allow customizing the layout.

MidiPads for iPhone is a drum pad controller and sports 64 drum pads, which can be resized in both size and area. The bottom part is fully configurable by the user with resizable touchpads, faders and buttons. Both faders and touchpads support snapping to a value, fading to the touch position (duration user-configurable) and bouncing. One very unique feature is the drumpad-integrated X/Y-controller: Change your instruments’ or your effects’ sound just by moving your finger while still triggering – very useful also for DJ software like Traktor Pro.

All elements can be edited by the user: Color, label, details can be changed for each element individually, Midi channel and Midi CC/Key can even be set per sender – and each element supports multiple of them per event. Faders, drumpads and buttons can receive incoming Midi values: Faders act as VU meters, drumpads/buttons glow depending on the incoming value.

MidiPads for iPhone supports Midi over Core Midi compatible adapters (iRig Midi, Line6 Midi mobilizer II) and network Midi – take your iPad on stage and trigger your music wirelessly! New is virtual Midi support – trigger multiple iOS Midi apps with MidiPads at the same time! Included is also an extensive manual which helps you to set up all connections and configure MidiPads.

Welcome to MidiPads, the professional and fully configurable drumpad controller, now also for your iPhone! This is a Midi controller for Network MIDI, virtual MIDI and iPhone connector MIDI interfaces. With Network MIDI, you can take your iPhone on stage and trigger your music wirelessly! Or imagine to be a DJ who can dance with the crowd while tuning in and playing the next track…

IMPORTANT: This is MIDI a controller app. It controls other MIDI capable music apps and devices, it won’t produce ANY sounds itself.
