Music App Video Tutorials For iOS Music Production
iPad Loops produces weekly music app video tutorials and review on Youtube. You can learn how to use the latest music production apps, see demo videos before you buy, and watch real life iPad jamming sessions. You video host is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle) Donnelly was part of the Sound Trends team as their content producer and consultant. Most of the loops for Sound Trends apps (Looptastic, Meta Dj, Studio HD, and Gruvtron) were created by Jason. Sound Trends was later sold to Native Instruments.
The video blog ( aka VLOG ) focuses on useful professional level apps. We want YOU to learn about the latest and greatest music production apps and updates.
Check out our YouTube channel and subscribe for free loops, app reviews, and tutorials.

Kronecker is a synthesizer with a mechanism to make sounds many times like a rhythm machine each time you press a keyboard.
In addition to synchronizing the trigger speed to the tempo, you can gradually increase the speed or slow it down after pressing the key. This makes it possible to produce synthesizer sounds like bouncing balls and clockwork toys.
Kronecker has four emitters that emit sound particles made from FM tones and noise. At the emitter you can specify at what timing the sound particles will be triggered. You can also add effects such as the pitch and tone of particles gradually changing.
Particles emitted by the emitter can be processed with two resonators, and you can reproduce sounds like particles jumping on strings and pipes.
Kronecker works not only on the iPad but also on the iPhone. It also supports Audio Unit Extensions (AUv3), so you can plug in to AUv3 compatible host. For each screen size, different layouts are designed to be easy to use and intuitive.
## Key Features
* Universal App
Optimized for both the iPad and the iPhone.
* Audio Unit Extensions (AUv3)
You can use in a host application that supports Audio Unit such as GarageBand.
* Inter-App Audio
You can stream live audio directly to other Inter-App Audio host applications.
* Audiobus support
You can stream live audio directly to other Audiobus-compatible apps. See https://audiob.us for more information.
* Ableton Link
Ableton Link is a new technology that synchronizes beat, phase and tempo of Ableton Live and Link-enabled iOS apps over a wireless network. See https://www.ableton.com/link/ for more information.
Harmonizr is a vocal harmonizer offering a unique and fun user interface. You can sing a melody, setting the appropriate key centers, and Harmonizr will do the rest, giving 3 voices of automatic harmony. A preset mechanism allows you to change the harmonization, and an editor allows you to customize how you want to harmonize each type of key center (major, minor, and dominant). Harmonizr also supports MIDI input, both to detect key center, and to provide a mechanism for keyboard players to manually specify harmony. There is a 10-voice limit in manual harmonization, and it can be used in conjunction with the automatic voices to create a richer sound, with a total of 14 voices.
Perforator is a rhythmic gating audio effect: it will creatively snip, cut, gap and filter incoming audio to create rhythmic patterns out of sustained sounds.
By tuning the slice envelopes you can create anything from classic staccato “trance gate” sounds to emulations of sloppy pumping sidechain compression.
Two gating mechanisms can be dialled in: an AMP EG gate (the traditional way of gating) and a 12dB/Oct lowpass filter which will rapidly carve away high frequencies from your sound to effectively silence them.
– AUv3 Audio Effect, works in all AU compatible hosts
– automatically syncs with your project’s tempo
– edit Left an Right channel independently
– built-in preset manager with a ton of factory presets
– all AU Parameters exposed for host automation
– user manual available on ruismaker.com
– Universal: works on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch
– Bonus Feature: AU MIDI output*
* AU MIDI: both envelopes (L+R) can send their values out as MIDI CC messages to mimic ‘parameter lock’ messages in other plugins/apps. Note: this feature requires iOS11+ and a host compatible with AU MIDI from effects.
iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle).
Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Native Instruments, The Grammt Museum and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
