Ops is a modular synthesiser designed to make it easy to create and explore sound interactively with a touch screen. Ops does away with patch cords, instead using a system of connected blocks with a clear signal flow.
The blocks, called ops, are joined together into structures by dragging and dropping them on screen. Structures can easily be copied and varied to build-up rich, interesting results.
There are ops to perform a wide range of functions, including interaction, signal generation, effects processing, control, audio input, sample playback and record, MIDI input, and pitch and rhythm manipulation.
What’s New in Version 1.1.1
– sample record and playback ops
– play and edit structures at the same time
– full undo/redo
– user interface improvements
– merge load
– Boolean and more maths ops
Explore new sound spaces with Tera Synth that go beyond the emulation of synthesizer legends. Use the power of analog and digital synthesis combined with new modules for physical modelling. Wireless patching of modules combined with an intelligible modulation routing simplifies the development of new synthesizer designs from scratch. Distortion effect, Delay/Chorus/Phaser and Reverb effects give your sounds the final polishing. Tera Synth gives your music an individual character with its unique fat sound. The well-designed algorithms and the economical modular structure provides you with a comparatively high voice yield. Precise timing with the unique built-in Arpeggiator let you feel the rhythm.

The freedom and versatility of a modular synth in a stylish mobile package.
In typical West Coast fashion the available modules, such as complex oscillator, lowpass gate, FM, mathematical utilities and slope generator, are designed for exploration and experimentation. The virtual patch cables will let you take your sound wherever you want to take it, from morphing basslines to evolving generative drones.
A modular playground
Even if you’re not familiar with modulars, wavefolders or control voltage you can dive right in, because all modules are prewired; offering a powerful monosynth without using a single cable. Then whip out the virtual cables and start patching. Ripplemaker is designed for fun – big enough to lose yourself into, yet intuitive enough to not get lost.
Standalone sequencer goodness
Sometimes you want to get away from your DAW and just play. That’s why Ripplemaker, beside being an AU plugin, also comes with a standalone sequencer app that helps you get creative. It has a random pattern generator with scale locks, a realtime probability-based mutation engine and it syncs with your other apps and hardware via Ableton Link or MIDI Clock.
Connectivity beyond cables: obviously in a modular synth it’s all about cables. But Ripplemaker takes connectivity to the another level:
– AUv3 (Audio Unit Plugin) Extension for use in iOS DAWs
– Universal design (works on iPad 4+, iPhone 5S+, iPod Touch 6G+)
– CoreMIDI, Virtual MIDI, Bluetooth MIDI,
– Audiobus 3, including AB3 MIDI IN+OUT and State Saving
– Ableton Link
– MIDI Clock Sync
– WAV export, MIDI file export, AU preset export
– Ready for iOS11 Files access
Euro rack users rejoice!! With Audulus, you can build synthesizers, design new sounds, or process audio. All with low latency real-time processing suitable for live performance. Audulus’s user interface is clean, simple, and easy to learn, allowing you to focus on sound – now made easier than ever with nearly 100 built-in Eurorack-style modules.
What’s New in Version 3.4
– Support for multi-channel audio I/O with new ADC and DAC nodes. Use Audulus with a DC-coupled audio interface (such as the Expert Sleepers ES-8) for connecting your Eurorack modular!
Bram Bos tease use with another video for their newly designed modular synthesizer “Ripplemaker”. Bram Bos brought us Ruismaker analog drums, Ruismaker FM drums, Phasemaker, and Troublemaker synth for iOS. They are now working diligently on a new synthesizer with modular patching capabilities and a built in sequencer. The original Ruismaker started its existence as a hardware drum machine, but is now available as an Audio Unit Instrument for mobile DAWs and sequencers. And the family is growing steadily.
Bram Bos’ Ruismaker plugins are about authenticity: everything you hear is synthesized in real-time by emulating classic electronic circuitry – giving your music that little bit more soul, and offering lots of useful control over the sound of your music without complicating your workflow.
The following videos demonstrate their new synth Ripplemaker. Release date TBA
Ripplemaker is a modular “West-Coast synthesis” playground, inspired by synths such as the 0-Coast, Phenol and the Kastle. Following the experimental synthesis philosophy of people like Buchla and Serge, west-coast synthesis offers a very different approach from the traditional subtractive methods of Moog synths. It’s much more about experimenting with additive timbres (hence the absence of a conventional filter) and the manipulation of CV signals. This video shows a typical generative patch concept called “Krell” (inspired by the soundtrack of the movie “Forbidden Planet” ‘composed’ by Louis Barron). It’s self-generating, so no sequencers or triggers are used here. But obviously Ripplemaker will be fully AUv3 compatible so you can do slightly more conventional/musical patches with it 😉
iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle).
You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Loopmasters and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
