PPG Infinite Adds Parameter Automation
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , ,

At the end of the 70s Wolfgang Palm developed wavetable synthesis. This was very successful and used by many synthesizer companies in the 80s and 90s. But this technology has its limitations. The main reason is that all sounds are harmonic. In nature this does not happen very often. Many sounds like a piano string have small offsets from the harmonic frequencies. This is even stronger in sounds like bells or percussion.

Infinite overcomes this limitation. The frequencies of the overtones created by Infinite can be totally freely defined. So the sounds it produces are totally free in the frequencies of their overtones. This means that each partial wave can have an arbitrary frequency. Moreover it is possible to move these overtones independently during the duration of a note. Another important part of most natural sounds is noise. Be it a flute or when a drumstick hits the drumhead – and this all can be reproduced in Infinite. Furthermore the noise source can be used to modulate the tonal part which results in very powerful effects. Besides these new digital features, we still have the typical 24db Lowpass filter, 2 VCA with stereo out and effects. All this is controlled by 10 envelopes, 4 LFOs and a modulation matrix.

What’s new

Envelope edit mode – with all points and bend curves
3D edit – Track select and trace can both be active
Stability issues
iPad Pro compatibility issues
AU extension – Parameter automation
AU extension – All notes off command

Key Features:
• New system which can synthesize harmonic and inharmonic sounds
• Morpher – X/Y controller which morphes 5 user selectable sine resources
• Noiser – X/Y controller morphing 3 noise resources and performing modulations
• Molder – acts as a digital filter with any amaginable filter sweeps
• Two detail editor pages for the Sine resources featuring a 3D display
• Import WTS and TCS files from the iPad WaveGenerator and WaveMapper
• Import Phonem utterances and use them in the Infinite Molder
• Versatile matrix system – allowing 16 sources to control 40 parameters
• 10 Envelopes, for control of filter sweeps, waveform, noise and many modulations
• 4 LFOs which can be freely routed via the matrix
• Delay/Reverb effect
• Overdrive/Distortion effect

Breathless MIDI Controller
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

Breathless MIDI Controller is a new kind of musical instrument with a configurable fingering system that uses four fingers of each hand. The default fingering is familiar to recorder, flute or sax players, the main difference is that octave change is done by moving the iPad forward. Another big difference is that you do not blow, but the lateral movement changes the expression.

Grid Music Generative Music Sequencer
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

Grid Music is a generative step sequencer. It makes music by conducting pulses between cells, which can play notes, modulate the synthesized sound, or emit pulses at regular intervals. Pulses can change direction randomly at intersections, creating random melodies and timbre. The fixed grid is designed for direct manipulation and is easy to use on devices big and small.

FEATURES

• Patterns are easy to edit and can be composed live. Create a tune in a few taps. Alter the structure of the sequence in a few more.

• Pitch quantization ensures that notes are always in key and makes it simple to create chord progressions.

• The built-in synthesizer can be modulated as part of a pattern. Add an extra dimension to a melody or create a randomized sonic texture.

• Perform songs with perfect timing using synchronized pattern queueing.

• Support for Ableton Link allows Grid Music to play in time with other apps and devices.

• Support for the iOS Files app makes it easy to organize your compositions and access them from multiple devices.

I repeat… Beatmaker 3 is Free

BeatMaker 3 – INTUA

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Loopmasters and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
