Magic Stave iPhone & iPod Touch App

Magic Stave iPhone App

Magic Stave listens to you singing or playing an instrument and displays the notes played on a music stave and shows the note position on a piano keyboard or guitar fretboard.

Automatically detects the key signature you’re singing/playing.

Has a built-in tuner so you can see exactly how sharp or flat you are or tune your guitar to.

NOTE The free version does not allow you to use Magic Stave as a composition/ideas notepad. The midi recorder version will let you record detected notes as a MIDI file then export to GarageBand (or other sequencer) to hear it and see the music notation. Seems this company has used the same copy and detail information for both their free and paid version but the features are much different.

A brilliant tool for seasoned music professionals and beginners alike. Ideal for supporting you as you learn to read music or vocalists away from an instrument and want to know whether you’re singing in tune.

Learning to read music and not sure whether the note you’re playing is right? Magic Stave shows you the note you’re actually playing and you can compare that with the sheet music you’re reading to check you’ve hit the right note.

Are you a singer reading music? Magic Stave will display the notes you’re singing so you can ensure you’re hitting the right note! Magic Stave can tell you the key you’re singing in too!

Ever wondered how high or low you can sing? Magic Stave will show you instantly. Works great with all transposing instruments too.

Magic Stave is now a MIDI recording note pad too! Just play/sing your idea while recording and import the midi file into any Sequencer/DAW like Logic or Sibelius.

Polychord iPad App

Here’s another example of syncing apps within the same iOS device using virtual midi. This example is using Polychord and MoDrum. Polychord is one of the first few apps to use this new feature but all apps will support this very soon.

The future of iOS music. Polychord virtual MIDI (BETA preview) from Shoulda Woulda Coulda on Vimeo.

The upcoming MIDI update to polychord lets you do some exciting and powerful new tricks with your iPad. Now you’ll be able to have your music apps talk to each other, while they run in the background, and use polychord to control them.

In this video we show how polychord can control another app (MoDrum) running in the background — all through virtual MIDI, all without any cables. Polychord sends MIDI clock signals out, keeping everything in sync.

Stay tuned — we’ll have even more exciting things to share soon as we test out polychord with some of the iPad synthesizers that are supporting this game-changing new feature.

Jordan Rudess iPad Developer

Jordan Rudess, creator of SampleWiz and MorphWiz, has just announced an new feature he is calling Virtual Midi. Virtual Midi allows you to control SampleWiz with MorphWiz on the same iPad. You can basically have both apps open and use them as a combined instrument.

Have a look for your self.

Jordan says: In creating this instrument I wanted to create something that would appeal to the sonic explorer in all of us. Creating a sampler for iOS devices has allowed us to push the boundaries of traditional sampling instruments. From playing a selection of my signature sounds on the SampleWiz keyboard (JR lead anyone?) to getting up close and personal with sounds by playing directly on the waveform screen, our mission was to blow your mind, put a smile on your face, and expand your creativity. In creating SampleWiz, we have created partnerships with leading sound developers in addition to my personally selected onboard presets.

Check out his apps in the app store. They’re wicked!
