Korg has teamed up with the hugely popular and globally successful virtual band Gorillaz™ to create a new dedicated beatbox for the iPad: The iELECTRIBE Gorillaz Edition.

The iELECTRIBE is a virtual analog beatbox for the iPad; sound creation is easy, fun and intuitive – just as on a vintage analog synthesizer. Simply choose a part and touch the 16-step sequencer to quickly build a groove. The aggressive sound, unique functionality, and intuitive beat-building style of the iELECTRIBE made it a favorite of Gorillaz for their latest album “The Fall”.

While retaining the intuitive beat-making features of the iELECTRIBE, the special Gorillaz Edition is a new machine customized to generate Gorillaz samples from their fourth album “The Fall” which allow the user to create music in a wide variety of musical styles. The iELECTRIBE Gorillaz Edition features: a unique design and synthesizer engine including 128 new sounds created by Gorillaz; and 64 ready-to-use pre-programmed patterns by the sound team Gorillaz, Stephen Sedgwick, and Korg.

Thumbjam – probably one of the best iPhone apps ever. Amazing sounds and performance features.

Even if you’ve only played air guitar, ThumbJam lets you sound like a pro. Pick an instrument and jam — with all the scales to choose from you’ll never hit a wrong note. The high quality instrument samples will make you sound like you just skipped years of music lessons.

New Features:

• Allows background recording, when TJ is being controlled by other MIDI-enable software or hardware, records both the generated audio and the incoming MIDI.
• MIDI Thru mode option (translates scale lock mode if enabled)
• Added Instrument Mute option which silences instrument audio output (Sound->Volume), useful when using ThumbJam as a MIDI controller
• MIDI file export of active loops with ‘Open In’ in another app, or via email. Now puts all loops into a single Type 1 MIDI file, one track per loop.
• Now responds to MIDI bank and program change messages, to change the loaded instrument, or quick key/scale slot (see manual for details)
• Export/Import of user presets added (for backup purposes), accessible via Wifi Transfer interface
• VoiceOver support improved dramatically: on iOS5 you can now play the instrument on the main play area without switching out of VoiceOver mode. Sliders are now more accessible, properly announcing their name and value, as well as being swipe adjustable.
• Split multi-instrument presets can now be saved

ThumbJam makes use of tilt and shake to add vibrato, tremolo, note bends, and volume swells for more realistic and expressive results. Delay and stereo reverb add depth to the sound, and a resonant lowpass filter gives you more tone shaping power. Build your own loops from the ground up or import your favorites and jam from there. Layer as many loops as you want, with different instruments for each. Copy and paste audio from other apps using Sonoma Wire Works AudioCopy/Paste as well the general pasteboard used by BeatMaker, via email, or iTune Document Sharing.

Want to jam with your friends? ThumbJam lets you broadcast tempo, key, and scale to other nearby devices via Bluetooth so you can play together live. Even better, you can use it as a MIDI or OSC controller over WiFi, with any CoreMidi compatible device to control software instruments on your computer, or play ThumbJam with hardware MIDI controllers!

The app includes a huge variety of scales, from western to eastern. Save your favorites for quick access, or create your own in-app. You can even import new scales in the Scala format for complete flexibility.

INSTRUMENTS

Up to 6 simultaneous instruments (including mixer) or upgrade with the ’16 Instrument Tracks’ in-app purchase, particularly recommended for newer devices.

‘Eden’, a powerful 16 voice subtractive synth with dual oscillators, 2 pole resonant filter, 3 envelope generators and 4 LFO’s per voice and 2 dedicated insert effects. Eden’s virtual patchbay lets you hook up almost anything for modulation mayhem.

The ‘TRG-16’, a performance pad for triggering samples. Adjust pitch, pan, volume and envelopes and assign each sample to one of the 3 output busses, each with its own effect sends and filter setup.

SAMPLING

Record samples with the built-in mic (iPod Touch requires external mic), resample NanoStudio’s own output or upload your own samples using NanoSync for OS X/Windows. Edit your samples using NanoStudio’s built-in wave editing tools (with multiple undo/redo) and process them offline with custom effects chains.

SEQUENCER

Record performances in real-time using the keys and trigger pads or create patterns and controller sweeps by drawing them in the piano roll editor. Arrange your patterns into a complete song using the track editor. You can edit while the song is playing and every operation has multiple undo/redo.

MASTERING

Nanostudio’s mixer has 2 global effects sends, 4 insert effects per channel and you can record, edit and playback all your fader and pan changes. When you’re ready to share your mix with others you can upload it direct to SoundCloud or use NanoSync to copy the exported .wav file to your Mac/PC.

EFFECTS

NanoStudio’s reverb, compressor, parametric EQ, waveshaper, delay, chorus, and bitcrusher effects are all highly optimized so you can run lots of them.
