Free Tascam PCM Recorder For iPhone, iPod, and iPad

TASCAM PCM Recorder is a free stereo recorder for iOS devices. It supports up to 12 hours of recording, using the built-in microphone or connected USB devices like the TASCAM iM2 stereo microphone. EQ, limiting, Soundcloud support and more make this a full-featured professional recorder.

NEW FEATURES:

Recording is now possible in iOS 5.x when the device is locked (because of the auto-lock function or pressing the On/Off Sleep/Wake Button).
In order to prevent unexpected feedback noise, the speaker button is automatically turned OFF when recording or in recording standby. In the previous version, the speaker button stayed OFF after recording (or standby) ended, but in this version, the speaker button is turned ON again if it was ON beforehand.
Operation has been confirmed with the TASCAM iM2 Stereo Microphone and TASCAM iU2 Audio/MIDI Interface.
In order to protect the recorded data, recording will automatically stop before the iOS device stops when the remaining battery charge becomes less than about 15%. In addition, if recording is started when the remaining battery charge is near 15%, a low battery warning appears on screen.

To Transfer Your Recording to a Computer

1. Connect your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to your computer and launch iTunes

2. Select your iOS device in the left column of iTunes, then click on the Apps tab

Transfer audio from PCMrecorder to PC

4. Select your recording in the PCM Recorder Documents window and click “Save To…”

5. Find a location on your computer and click Choose

You can now open your mix in an audio editor or drag it into your iTunes library to convert to an MP3 file and share online.

Dropophone Free App By Lullatone

I stumbled across this app by chance. It was one of those “customers also bought” apps in the app store. I’m glad I found it though. It’s quite simple but that is what is appealing about it. Clean design. Very minimal. You will like this if you like groups who make music like Lullatone (which I am now a fan thanks to this app).

Create your own minimalist melodies with this exciting new app. Based on Lullatone’s album “Little Songs About Raindrops,” this app allows you to make songs that sound like drips and drops falling on a tiny orchestra of instruments. Pressing the multi-colored raindrops triggers notes that loop every six seconds. Combine different colored drops and notes to compose your own rainy-day melodic backdrops. A metronome is also included to help you keep time. This app is super simple on purpose. Simple is magic!

Free Synthesizer For iPhone

SSSSYNTH is Monophonic Virtual Analog Synthesizer. This is a basic monophonic synth app and it’s free. Version 1.0 does not support CoreMidi. You also can not store any of your settings or patches. Filter section is not smooth. You can hear stepping. Weird white keys, not typical length. Nice delay with filter effect. Oh yeah it’s free!

Sylo Synthesiser allows you to play music, or create sound effects, using sounds you can design yourself. Sylo Synth includes a collection of pre-designed sounds which you can use as they are, tweak them to your heart’s desire, or you can make new sounds from scratch.

Build sounds from basic waveforms, or capture them from the world around you using the iPad’s built-in microphone. Then, tinker with Sylo Synthesiser’s filters and other settings to make a sound all your own.

Sylo Synthesiser features live time-stretching technology based on granular synthesis and a suite of filters:
• Speed up or slow down a recorded sound to use as an instrument
• With a regular wavetable synthesiser, higher-pitched notes are also faster, like chipmunks, and lower-pitched notes are also slower, as though they are moving through treacle
• But enable Sylo’s “Sync Speed” feature, and lower or higher-pitched notes still play back at the same speed, keeping them in sync with each other
• Fiddle with the speed control even while you’re playing notes: Slow, stop or even rewind the sound in the middle of notes — without changing the pitch
• Granular synthesis allows you to create instruments or effects from a recording, that do not sound like the original, yet retain its realistic, natural sound
• FX units: Frequency modulation, ring modulation, echo/delay, distortion, and a low-pass filter with resonance control

Sylo Synthesiser also supports Core MIDI: play music from another device via MIDI.
