How To Sync iPad To Ableton Live Using MusicIO
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , , , ,

musicio

Dan Rosenstark from MusicIO shows us how to sync an iPad (and the app iMaschine 2) to Ableton Live using the MusicIO app and a lightning cable. This is a hard-wired option that streams Audio and MIDI over USB between your iOS device and your Desktop DAW. The app is designed for the Mac, but also works with most Windows DAWs. One easy-to-use, professional app. Easily send audio from your iOS device to your desktop DAW using USB; musicIO lets you integrate Inter-App Audio compatible iOS synthesizers with a traditional desktop DAW system. MIDI is built in to musicIO too; everything you need, all in once place. It’s simple, reliable, and near-zero latency.

FEATURES
• Low latency audio from iOS to your desktop DAW, with crystal-clear 32-bit resolution. Native support for IAA allows for the best possible audio quality, and seamless integration with iOS synthesizers and effects apps
• Send & Receive MIDI between any CoreMIDI apps over USB (Lightning or 30 pin) with no perceptible latency nor jitter
• Large sysex messages (eg. bulk dumps) handled seamlessly
• Choose “send to” ports (OSX and iOS)
• Choose “receive from” (OSX): route MIDI from anywhere to your iOS device
• BridgeClock, a ground-breaking inter-device MIDI-clock-synchronization technology, provides jitter-free sync between platforms

REQUIREMENTS
• musicIO is designed to work with iOS 7 or newer, OS X 10.7 or newer, and Windows Vista, 7, and 8. Audio is transferred in 32-bit stereo. The PC client currently handles a 44.1khz sample rate, while the Mac can handle all sample rates. Please check VST compatibility if you are using a PC DAW.

howl

HOWL is a simple vocoder/synthesizer. It uses formants to simulate the human voice and a pitch-space keyboard to help you find interesting melodies.

howl-formant-synthesizer

Features:

• Simple synthesizer (just a sawtooth wave nothing too complicated okay)
• Simple vocoder (four parallel bandpass filters, a bit like the Klatt engine)
• Audiobus support, so you can pipe your own audio through the vocoder and/or send the output to other software

Jussi Vocal Synthesizer For iOS By Klevgrand
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

jussi-klevgrand

Jussi is a synthesizer that emulates male voice vowels in a unique way. Thanks to a set of powerful parameters you can make Jussi sing anything from soft and airy choir-like vowels to hard and angry shouting.

Formants are controlled by playing with different velocity, which makes it fun and easy to play using a MIDI keyboard.

jussi-vocal-synth

Features:

• AUv3, works with AUv3 compatible hosts like Garageband, Cubasis, AUM etc.

• ADSR with ”Turn-in” and ”Turn-out” option (Turn-in and Turn-out affects the pitch and maps it to attack and release)

• Voice character XY pad (Intensity and Narrowness)

• Legato mode (glides between notes and velocity levels)

• Legato Hold mode (polyphonic legato when using a sustain controller, consult the documentation for more info)

• Throat emulation XY pad (Grain and Tonality)

• Built-in reverb

Note: Jussi in stand-alone mode does not support IAA, Audiobus or MIDI. You can play it using the keys at the bottom, but that’s it. We recommend using Jussi with AUv3 compatible hosts.

iPhone 6 or later is recommended.
iPad 4 or later is recommended.

Soundscaper Offers New Ways To Control Morphing
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , , , ,

SoundScaperSoundScaper is an experimental sound mini lab for creating unusual soundscapes, atmospheric textures, drones, glitches and noises based on circuit bending principles.

With this application you can easily experiment with creating new and unusual sounds from ordinary samples. For sound designers and those interested in creating ambient or experimental electronic music, with filtering and mixing of up to three oscillators, you can create excellent soundscapes, textures and drones for your music or for movie soundtrack or entertainment apps and games. With complete MIDI control this application is very comfortable and powerful instrument to use for real-time sound creation and live improvisation. The oscillators, based on simulating schematics of actual 8 bit lofi sound playback chips, have circuit bending like controls that are ideal for making glitches, noises, crackles and granular sounds. Combined with the filtering and spatial mixing options, you can expand these sounds to deep and atmospheric textures. Finally you can add motion and continuous changes to your sounds via low frequency oscillators which can control the filter and mixer parameters.

The “Morphing scene” option gives you ability of smooth switching between scenes, applying multifunctional filters and changing oscillators parameters during morphing process. Using these features you can add a new dimension to the existing scenes varying them in the real time.

What’s inside:

soundscaper

  • Three sample-based oscillators with control based on circuit bending principles.
  • Three Low / High / Band – pass filters and two range delay for each oscillator.
  • Spatial mixer / reverb with side and distance for each sound source.
  • Three low frequency oscillators for automation mixer and filters.
  • Possibility of generating parameters for each oscillator randomly.
  • Scenes for storing all parameters of oscillators, filters and mixer.
  • Morphing with smooth changes scenes with additional effects in real-time.
  • Built-in library of natural samples grouped by categories.
  • Set of ready-to-use presets for oscillators.

Additional features:

  • Advanced control panel for all faders and rotary knobs.
  • Individual equalizer and reverb options for each sound source in the spatial mixer.
  • Complete MIDI control for all faders, knobs and most other elements.
  • Uploading samples through Dropbox, Web access, clipboard and from other apps.
  • Different color schemes available for the user interface.
  • Detailed application description (also in signle PDF).
  • Supports Audiobus with “State Saving” feature.
  • Inter-App audio compatible.

Requirements:

Fourth generation of iPad and higher is recommended (especially with Inter-app audio and Audiobus).

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Native Instruments, The Grammt Museum and many more.
