Free MIDI sequencer app

Free MIDI sequencer app

Physicles, is a free MIDI app.

This is a physics-based AU MIDI plugin collection – although right now there is only one plugin, Bouncy. I plan to create at least one more plugin (Sandbox), although it will take a while.

So, what is Physicle Bouncy? This is a particle emitter AUv3 MIDI app that is heavily influenced by Caelestis, with a little dose of PHYsynth. In more detail: in this app, various balls bounce within a (rotating) box; and MIDI messages are generated whenever a ball collides with the side of the box. All balls and the border follow the laws of physics (although with no gravity and perfect elasticity), and their velocity and direction can be changed individually. Besides, it is possible to “play” the AU, by changing the notes played by the box or by the balls upon collision by using the host’s piano. With this it is possible to play chords using interesting rhythms o:) . Besides, I have used some of the conventions of the Rozeta suite that I think all AU MIDI apps should have, like the possibility to change the current playground using the host’s piano (keys C1-C2)

Tune Maker iOS Music Lab

Tune Maker is a music composition tool which helps you to understand the basic components of music and to quickly begin creating your own compositions.

Tune Maker can be used by musicians of all levels. Beginners can start using basic chords, rhythms and melodies. Professional musicians will appreciate the ability to construct very advanced chords, using non-standard time signatures, adding multiple melody lines, MIDI export, recording chords and notes from a MIDI keyboard and many more.

FEEL THE BEAT

There is not any strict sequence of steps in music composition, but if you are just starting, you can begin by adding some drums to your tune. It will create a basic structure of the future composition.

HEAR THE MELODY

Try to hear a melody in your head or sing it first. Then start drawing it on the melody track canvas. Hit Play and listen while you are working on it. To make it more dynamic, use the velocity tool to adjust volume of individual notes.

HARMONIZE

In music, the process of adding chords to a melody is called harmonization. Tune Maker allows you to construct almost any possible chord and it will help you to find chords that mach your melody.

ANIMATE CHORDS WITH AN ARPEGGIO

In Tune Maker, an arpeggio track is a rhythmic pattern for your chord progression. You can think of it as a right hand pattern when you play on a guitar. It can be like strumming, bass & chord or a single-note pattern. Tune Maker automatically maps this pattern to your chords and produces appropriate note pitches.

RECORD YOUR PERFORMANCE

Enable recording and start playing on the note editor’s scale buttons or use your MIDI controller connected over USB of Bluetooth. You can also record chords with your MIDI keyboard. Tune Maker will recognize chords you are playing and insert them to the chord track.

CHOOSE YOUR INSTRUMENTS

Select an instrument from the built-in collection. Play CoreMIDI-compatible apps. Or plug in any Audio Unit Extension Instrument available on the App Store.

BUILD A COMPLETE SONG

You can duplicate an existing section and add some alterations to it or you can just repeat a section. For example, if you have some kind of chorus section in your song, you could repeat it in multiple places inside your song. And if you decide to modify this section later, the changes will affect all the repeats.

ORGANIZE, SHARE & EXPORT

Tune Maker is a Document Based App. This allows you to organize your projects in the way that works best for you. You can store your projects on a local folder, on iCloud Drive, or on any other supported cloud storage like DropBox or GoogleDrive. You can share easily using AirDrop, Mail or Message. You can also export your project as a MIDI file if you want to continue working on it in a DAW like Ableton or GarageBand.

Woodstepper Sampler Step Sequencer

Woodstepper Sampler Step Sequencer

The WoodStepper is a sequencer having both audio and midi out.
It consists of 4 independent 8-steps sequencers which can be linked to a 16, 24 or 32 steps sequencer.
Each step can send 4 midi messages (note on, CC, …) to 2 midi channels.
The audio part for each sequencer has a pitch (down) shifter, (Moog lowpass) filter with ASR envelope, saturator, amplitude ASR envelope and delay line which can all be set independently per step.
The audio sources can be the track audio, sampled audio or the built-in VCO.
The app can be used stand-alone (device audio input and output) or as a plugin in a DAW.
In this case it has to be inserted in an audio track and not in an instrument track as WoodStepper is still an audio effects plugin with additional midi input and output.

Woodstepper Sampler Step Sequencer

The manual can be downloaded from : http://www.woodmansimmaculatemaplesyrupstudio.be/woodstepper/WoodStepperHelp.pdf– IOS plugin type : AUv3, IAA and stand-alone app.

– Has 4 independent 8-steps sequencers.
– Sequencers can be linked to form 16, 24, or 32 steps sequencer(s).
– Each sequencer can have a different timing.
– Steps can be disabled for non 4/4 patterns.
– Each step can send up to 4 midi messages (+ all previous notes off) on 2 midi channels
– Midi note-on values can follow a midi received ground note.
– Audio sources can be the track audio, sampled audio or a VCO (per sequencer).
– Sampling can be armed (per sequencer) with a button or a midi in CC.
– Each sequencer has it’s own gain, clipping led and brick-wall limiter.
– VCO’s have the usual waveforms and can be FM modulated.
– VCO frequency/note value can be set with a midi in note-on.
– Polyphonic mode sends 4 subsequent note-ons to the 4 VCO’s.
– Each step has a pitch down shifter.
– Pitch shifters have a glide control.
– Pitch shifters can be set to a random value (out of a list of scales).
– Pitch values can be harmonically locked to the Just Scale or the Equally Tempered Scale.
– Each step has a 4-pole Moog Lowpass filter with resonance and ASR envelope.
– Steps have an additional high-pass filter and a saturation control.
– All steps have an ASR amplitude envelope and a step gain.
– Each step has its own delay line with independent timing, feedback, and filtering.
– Step audio and delay can be panned independently per step.
– Sequencers can be started manually or started when Playing (transport) starts.
– A “Play 1 Step” button allows to finetune step settings
– An “All Steps” button allows to set the same parameter value in all steps.
– Has a global Dry-Wet, Input gain and Output gain control.
– Presets can be stored in iCloud Drive (makes them available on all your devices).
– Presets can be switched with Midi Program Changes.
– Major controls can be set with Midi CC messages.
