The iPadloops music app blog is proud to announce news by Mayank Sanganeria.
bent.fm is a full FM model of a circuit-bent synthesizer. bent.fm allows the user to tweak classic circuit bending modifications like fine and octave-decimated clock bends, and experiment with more esoteric bends. Circuit-bent distortions and algorithmic sequences can be created by (im)proper connections on the bend matrix. Reroute digital serial information through the base chip set (a numerically controlled oscillator) and extra logic gates (NAND and XOR, binary counters), and experience architecture-level bit crushing. For anyone interested in circuit bending, glitch sounds, industrial music, and post-procedural art.
What’s New in Version 1.5
• bent.fm is now a Universal App
– iPhone version lets you control 1 oscillator
– iPad version lets you control 2 oscillators
• Updated to Audiobus 2.2.1
• MIDI keyboards supported for pitch input!
Yamaha celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Yamaha Synthesizers with the Yamaha Synth Book. This app features a complete history of Yamaha Synthesizers, an integrated virtual analog soft synth, and serves as a portal to Yamaha’s online synth communities.
6 FEATURES:
– HISTORY features detailed, behind the scenes information about the 40-year design and development history of Yamaha synthesizers. This fascinating historical accounting of the technological breakthroughs behind some of the most innovative, musical and successful Yamaha synthesizers is a must-read for all synth fans.
– AN2015 features virtual analog modeling like the AN1x. It also features a drum part that can keep the beat going while you perform and control the main synth part.
● Use case 1: Enjoy it as a standalone iOS app
There are 2 modes available, SYNTH mode and Drum mode that work at the same time, e.g. when drum phrase is playing, Analog sound can be selectable and playable with the drum phrase, and vice versa without stopping ongoing music.
● Use case 2ÅFUse it with a MOXF as an external tone generator!
When connected to the Yamaha MOXF Music Production Synthesizer (OS version 1.10) using the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter by Apple, the MOXF becomes the MIDI/Audio interface for the iOS app creating a very powerful music production system.

“Cryptoclash is a strange generative synthesizer, which translates letters into sound. By typing in a string of up to 20 letters (a-z), you set up the states of the sound engine, which are represented as roaming particles. Every time they collide, things can change. Use the accelerometers to change gravity, and tap on a ball to give it a velocity boost. Each time you choose the source string, you create a new sounding patch. Some sounds are noisier, and others more meditative; keep exploring and you’ll hear interesting new tuning systems (such as 26 notes per octave), and different amounts of synthesizer feedback.”
The description makes it look good. I put it to the test in the video below. Kinda lame but hey it’s free if you have a couple minutes to waste check it out.
“The central idea behind this work is that of the musical cryptogram, where letters are turned into notes; but the sound engine here avoids such a direct and obvious mapping for a combination of physics engine (thank you Box2D), live coding, sonification, finite state machines, Markov models and feedback FM.”
Brother is the brainchild of IDM producer and programmer ERik aka Humble from Norrköping, Sweden. This is a polyphonic cleaner brother of shapesynth, which comes with 4 preset waveforms. It is both capable of running on its own with background audio and core MIDI or as a slave to shapesynth. Brother comes with a kind if quirky sequencer loading tweets and converts them into sound, endless source of compositions. Capable of exporting to send with email, upload to soundcloud and MAPI audio copy.
Version 1.4 now universal app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
+++ Adding Oscilloscope. Comes in two modes, normal and red/cyan colour anaglyph.
+++ Navigation bar default bug fix.
+++ Minor graphic bug fix.
+++ NEW slave algorithm. Now works between devices using bonjour and tcp.
+++ Saving tweets.
+++ Adding blank space silence mode.
+++ Setting for base octave.
+++ Introducing the Paul Collins navigation bar shift. Tadah! 🙂
+++ Polyphonic.
+++ Sine, Square, Triangle and Saw.
+++ Double Delay.
+++ Background Audio.
+++ Core MIDI.
+++ Virtual MIDI.
+++ Email.
+++ Soundcloud.
+++ MAPI Audio Copy.
+++ Shapesynth slave mode (Please make sure they both run on the same buffer size and midi channel.
S.709 is a synthesizer that uses four multitouch points on the screen and the accelerometer to give a large amount of control over a sine wave output. It’s good for creating strange noises and sound design.
Controls
——-
Orange – Volume and Pitch (radius control pitch range)
Pink – Ramp speed and note length
Blue – Delay Length and Pitch (hold down for delay)
Green – Delay Filter and Feedback
iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle).
You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Loopmasters and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
