Retronymns is working together with Akai to bring an authentic MPC2000 app to their app Tabletop. It will run within the app along with many other useful virtual instruments.

Here is what they said, “The MPC on iPad is going to be a blast with classic MPC beat making features, sweet effects, and a killer sampling workflow, and now you’ll be able to work this legendary device into your Tabletop sessions! Possibly the best part is how it works: owners of the stand alone MPC app will automatically unlock the MPC device in Tabletop for free — no need to purchase it twice!”

Additionally they have partnered up with iZotope to bring a suite of real-time vocal processing tools to future versions of the Tabletop app.

“By partnering with iZotope, we’ll be able to offer Tabletop users the distinctive pitch-shifting vocal effects heard in so many popular songs. Use them to polish & perfect your tracks, or push the envelope and pitch-shift your live vocals to somewhere entirely new. No matter how you choose to use the iZotope tools, you’ll benefit from the same ease of use and modular design that makes all Tabletop devices work so well together.”

These features are coming soon. My guess is they will be in app purchase as additional kit but I hope they are including in the initial price.

* Circles grow at a constant rate.

* No two circle can overlap.

* Bigger circle pushes and shrinks smaller circle when in contact.

* A circle “pops” and makes a sound when its boundary intersects with the center of another circle.

* The pitch of the sound is determined by the position of the circle on the background. Bigger the hole, higher the pitch.

* The envelope of the produced sound is determined by a number of parameters including final circle size and time of interaction between two involved circles.

This app requires you have a CoreMIDI setup or own the hardware Line 6 Mobilizer MIDI interface hardware accessory for full functionality. With version 3 you can also use Little MIDI to sequence iOS synth apps that support CoreMIDI and background audio!

If you do not have a compatible synth app, a CoreMIDI hardware setup, or a MIDI Mobilizer setup, LittleMidi can generate very basic melodic sounds in place of sending MIDI. This will let you play around with the app and try it out, but it is not a feature that will be developed further and is not the primary purpose of the app. LittleMM is intended to be a MIDI sequencer driving other apps or external MIDI hardware. This sequencer has its foundation in musical improvisation theory; All recorded musical notes remain relative, and can be changed in various ways during playback.

It’s a simple tool for people that like to create music, but don’t have the discipline or time for studying music theory, or years of piano improvisation practice. Changeling does not generate compositions, you remain in full creative control over the music that you come up with.

Instructions:

Just start by recording a simple melody-line with one finger.
Change the scale and root by sliding the ribbons.
Transform the melody to a chord progression by turning the chord knob. Play around with the available voicings and transition modes that affect chord inversions.
Finally spread out the chord notes over time using the arpeggiator.

Use Changeling’s MIDI output to record patterns to your DAW or other MIDI capable IOS apps.
