MULTI-TOUCH CONTROL:

There are no on-screen knobs, keys, or sliders to fiddle with; all synthesis is driven by your multi-touch performance. Touch relationships like distances / angles / timings perform all the controller functions. It’s just you and the full screen multi-touch performance area.

Beat Twirl Is Like Recycle For iOS. Slice And Export Audio Slices.

Beat Twirl

Hello hello welcome to the sound mix lab I am your host Jason Donnelly aka Dj Puzzle reporting for my website www.ipadloops.com and today we’re gonna do a little sampling with an iPad and an app called Beat Twirl. Beat Twirl is an app inspired by Propellerheads Recycle. What it allows us to do is record a stream of audio hits and automatically slice them up and export the slices so that we can easily import then into our sampler or drum machine app of choice.

Our audio source will be these two Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators. We’ve got a simple mini plug Y adapter and two 1/4 inch adapters going into the iTrack Dock. The pocket operators are good for producing chiptune. Use these free samples in your mixes. Samples from PO-28 Robot and PO-20 Arcade.

Goal: Sample and export slices with an iPad.
Results: Free Teenage Engineering samples.

Let’s start recording. Here you will see the record options. Have the wait for audio enabled. What this will do is tell the app to start recording right when it picks up the first sound. Now the record button will become a small square when it is armed and you should see your VU meters dancing. Make sure you adjust the gain accordingly and leave a bit of head room. Hit the record button again to name and save your samples. Now lets adjust the slice sensitivity to place our slice points. You can also adjust the silence parameter to remove silence from each slice. Next we will export the individual slices in a zip file to our dropbox. Now we can open and extract the zip pack into Audioshare and open them in our app of choice. Let’s choose patterning. Suppose I’ll have a little jam. Beat Twirl is a “beat slicer” app. The app lets you analyze existing sounds and detect their rhythm with its note onset algorithms. With Beat Twirl you can work with drum loops and rhythm patterns, easily enhancing them with additional percussion sound, or create new patterns.

How to use Beat Twirl?

• You can record yourself singing or clapping a rhythm, than add percussion instruments to the rhythm you created.
• You can extract a rhythmic/percussive section from a song and convert it to a loop you can play along with at different tempos.
• Mix-in percussion instruments to a song to enhance its’ rhythm.
• Extract beat samples from a song for use with a beat sequencer.

Audio Export
Patterning now includes a highly configurable audio export function for getting your drum tracks out of Patterning and into the next stage of your process. It’s easy to turn your beats into perfect audio loops or entire songs in .WAV format. Bounce individual tracks or the main mix and save your files to AudioShare, iTunes File Sharing or using “Open in….” to save to Dropbox or other apps.

MIDI Mapping
Map your hardware MIDI controller to control mixer and sample settings, trigger pattern changes, and more. Assign CC’s, notes, or program changes to parameters using the MIDI learn function, and fine tune parameter ranges with the MIDI configuration menu. MIDI mappings can be imported from other songs to easily reuse your favorite mappings.

New & Improved Sync Options
A consolidated Sync menu makes your sync settings easier to configure. In addition to Ableton Link, Patterning now supports Inter-App Audio sync and a completely re-written MIDI Clock implementation. Inter-App Audio sync and transport controls are available when connected to the master Inter-App Audio port.

Inter-App Audio Track Output
Patterning now supports individual Inter-App Audio outputs for each track as well as the master output. Connect up tracks to Audiobus, AUM, or another Inter-App Audio host to apply effects to individual tracks.

MIDI Output Enhancements
In addition to notes, MIDI enabled tracks can now send automation data in the form of CC or pitch bend messages. Track layers are assigned to MIDI destinations according to the MIDI standard. MIDI Track settings can be imported from other songs for easy reuse.

A New Timeline
Patterning’s timeline has been updated, making the creation of songs a whole lot easier and more fun. You can now make multiple selections, and use “duplicate,” “duplicate insert,” and “duplicate at end” tools to quickly repeat sections of the timeline. In addition, each timeline block now has a “reset rotation” option to allow patterns to snap to their beginnings in the timeline. This is useful for rotating or odd meter patterns, as well as creating stutters or fills in the timeline.

Preview samples in the sample library! To enable, toggle the speaker icon in the top right of the sample library. Preview uses the current sample settings (pitch, pan, effect sends, etc) to help you tweak your sounds.

Import custom images from your photos library for your drum kits. Tap the drum kit image to select and edit a photo.

CHAiOS SYNTH 2 is a synthesizer/melody generator that creates unique melodies with just one tap!
