Grid Music Adds Randomize and MIDI Out!

Grid Music is a 2-dimensional MIDI step sequencer. It can be used to compose classic 16-step patterns, but can also create loops, random branches, and polyrhythm. Its 5×5 grid allows for countless arrangements of melody and timbre while keeping the entire composition visible and easy to understand. Pitch and rhythm can be directly manipulated by touch, and the structure of a pattern can be altered in just a few taps.

What’s new:
MIDI output. Grid Music can now control other synthesizers via MIDI.
Randomization. Tap the Randomize button to randomize the values of a pattern’s note cells.
Undo. When editing a pattern, you can undo changes like randomization, adding or removing connections, changing cell values, and more.
More scale options for pitch quantization, including triads and sevenths.
The synthesizer now supports a sustain parameter.

• Send MIDI notes and control change messages to compatible synthesizer apps. If you have a compatible MIDI interface and the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, Grid Music can control an external MIDI synthesizer.

Grid Music Generative Music Sequencer

Grid Music is a generative step sequencer. It makes music by conducting pulses between cells, which can play notes, modulate the synthesized sound, or emit pulses at regular intervals. Pulses can change direction randomly at intersections, creating random melodies and timbre. The fixed grid is designed for direct manipulation and is easy to use on devices big and small.

Rozeta Collider Audio Unit

Rozeta is a suite of MIDI sequencers and controllers that lets you explore a new, freeform approach to sequencing and controlling mobile music apps.

The app contains 9 MIDI Audio Units (a totally new feature in iOS11) in a single package, which can be loaded in compatible MIDI AU hosts (Kymatica AUM, Beatmaker 3, Sequencism).

What’s New in Version 1.0.6
To celebrate the New Year, I’m introducing: Rozeta Collider – MIDI Hadron Collider
This plugin is useful for exploring semi-repeating generative phrases and patterns. Compared to Rozeta Particles, the Collider plugin will sound less random and more predictable, while still mutating and surprising due to its colliding MIDI Hadrons.

Other changes in this update:
– Rozeta X0X now supports accents
– Bassline, Rhythm and X0X now reset to the first pattern when rewinding in stopped mode
– Slightly improved timing accuracy in all plugins
– Added more scales
– Added more drum keymap templates
– Lots of minor fixes and improvements

1) Rozeta Bassline: a monosequencer based on the popular Troublemaker sequencer. Obviously comes with all the randomization and mutation features. Up to 8 patterns per sequence, with Follow Actions. Transpose using MIDI.

2) Rozeta Rhythm: a euclidean drum sequencer with mutations per instrument and polyrhythms. Comes with configurable key mappings for many popular drum apps.

3) Rozeta X0X: classic TR-styles step sequencer for drum machines. Supports triplets, polyrhythms and mutations per channel. Optionally emulates the exact timing jitter pattern of the legendary TR-808

4) Rozeta LFO: a triple MIDI LFO generator lets you modulate CC parameters of your MIDI instruments. Apply amplitude modulation to each wave for more organic behavior. Optionally syncs to tempo.

5) Rozeta XY: a double XY Controller Pad for generating 4 simultaneous configurable CC controller streams per instance. Also features MOD wheel and PitchBend sliders.

6) Rozeta Arpeggio: adds a MIDI arpeggiator to any of your synths. Offers latch mode, shuffle and automatic tempo synchronization. Turn any incoming MIDI stream into an arpeggio on the fly.

7) Rozeta Particles: MIDI particle generator – generates a cloud of MIDI notes that create pseudo-random patterns when bounding off the walls.

8) Rozeta Cells: Polyphonic Step Recorder – record and play back polyphonic phrases and patterns.

9) Rozeta Collider (NEW): MIDI Hadron Collider – explore semi-repeating generative patterns and melodies.

Notes:
– these plugins do not run as a standalone app and require a compatible host to work
– MIDI is not sound. To make sound you’ll have to feed the MIDI into a synthesizer or instrument app. Bring your own synths!

Refraktions is an 8-track generative MIDI sequencer with artificial intelligence that processes input over time to create loops tailored to each individual user.

I have to admit I was really excited to purchase this app and then when I did it was a tad disappointing (sorry dev) BUT this new update came today and solved a lot of the issues so I just had to publish a video. I hope you enjoy it!

Guitarscaper Generative Mood App

Guitarscaper is a generative music app and virtual instrument that’s easy on the ears and fun to play. Launch the app, and with a single tap of the auto-play button, guitarscaper will create evolving and ambient guitar-based soundscapes that are unique every time.

While all of the guitarscaper sounds originated from a single electric guitar, many have been extensively processed to create an “impossible guitar” that can morph between orchestral-type swells and ethereal choir-like sounds. Think of it as guitar DNA taken to the next level!

Guitarscaper in auto-play mode is the perfect companion for relaxing, studying or providing non-intrusive headphone music at work or on your commute. You can even set a timer so you can fall asleep to its gentle and soothing tones.

You can also play guitarscaper as a virtual instrument using the dedicated keypads and performance loop recorders, and tailor the sounds with built-in reverb, delay and “character” effects parameters. And while you’re playing, guitarscaper can lend a hand by adding auto-accompaniment parts and even provides hints for notes it thinks might sound good depending on which notes you play!

As a sample-based instrument, guitarscaper currently supports two “moods” – a light mood, based on the E major / pentatonic Yo scale, and a sad mood, based on the Em pentatonic scale.

Please note that guitarscaper is not a chromatic or MIDI-compatible instrument, and it is unlikely to become one.

You can also record and process the audio output of guitarscaper using any Inter-App Audio host that supports IAA Generators.

You are free to use guitarscaper in your own recordings or live events and installations on a royalty-free basis. All I would ask for is a simple credit that includes the name of the app – “guitarscaper”.

I hope you will agree the guitarscaper interface, while minimalist and a perhaps a little cryptic initially, will eventually become very easy to use.
