In February I published a video review of No Limits limiter by the same developer DDMF. DDMF is known for quality effects with a realistic looking interface. This time around we have NY Compressor by DDMF. NYCompressor is a professional sounding compressor audio unit for iOS. It is compatible with Garageband, Cubasis, AuriaPro and other AUv3 hosts. The NYCompressor is the ideal workhorse when it comes to dynamics management in a mix. From gentle compression for glueing your mix together to heavy drum compression for the ultimate punch: NYCompressor can do it all.

Retronyms have a cool app called AudioCopy. With Audio Copy you can share audio files between different audio apps. AudioCopy also has a wicked content store. This is the ONLY universal content store in the iOS world and by “universal” I mean you can purchase and download sounds to use in Retronyms apps but it’s not limited to JUST Retryonyms apps. You can import the sounds into a lot of different music production apps. Packs that say “Hook Enhanced” contain useful metadata to help time stretching and pitch shifting within the Hook app.

Echo Pitch pitch-shifting multi-delay for iPhone. Echo Pitch has 4 delays where each delayed signal can be pitched one octave up or down in 1/2 steps, and can function as a 4 voice harmonizer. Echo Pitch also has a built-in looper, amp simulator and reverb. Each of the four delays can be routed into the other for incredible, swirling, ambient washes and otherworldly sounds.

Echo Pitch works best with an iOS audio interface, such as the Fender Slide or iRig. Echo Pitch is also Audiobus and Inter-App Audio compatible (for IAA, launch Echo Pitch first).

Syndt is a high quality polyphonic synthesizer with a lot of possibilities. The oscillator waveform can be morphed between pure sine to pure square and supports alternation of pulse width. Both the shape and pulse width can be modulated by two independent LFOs. Finetuned low pass and high pass filters combined with a separate filter attack setting (optionally based on velocity) makes possibilities to create some raw and interesting sounds.
The additional LFO can be shaped exactly as the oscillator, and optionally controls filters, gain and pitch (using a modulation wheel or just automatcally). This LFO can be synchronized to a AUv3 host.
Globally there’s a nice stereo chorus, ping pong stereo delay (that also can sync to a AUv3 hosts bpm) and EQ.

Important: Syndt in stand-alone mode does not support IAA or MIDI. You can try it out using the keyboard at the bottom, but that’s it. We recommend using Syndt with AUv3 compatible hosts.
OBS! Syndt oversamples the signal and uses sophisticated DSP features which makes it consume quite some CPU. An iPad AIR 2 or better is recommended if you’re planning to use many voices simultaneously.
