Waldorf Nave iPad Synthesizer

Waldorf Nave iPad Synthesizer

Nave is Waldorf’s first synthesizer App development – created by chief engineer and
director Stefan Stenzel, NLog mastermind Rolf Wöhrmann and Design Guru Axel Hartmann.

The Nave sound engine includes two novel Wavetable oscillators, leaving every previous attempt in wavetable synthesis far behind. The spectrum of a sound can be transposed independently of its pitch. The waves are being rendered periodically to noisy. Especially sounds with an accent on formants can be reproduced easily, which made us integrate a speech synthesizer for the easy creation of wavetables.

The clearly structured UI invites both beginners and advanced users to experiment, and the large display of
the iPad makes Wavetable creation and editing a blast. Besides Speech Synthesis, Wavetables can also be made by analysing audio files. Further stretching, rotating and shifting in spectral domain allows Wavetables to be further refined or distorted.

All factory Wavetables from Microwave, Wave and Blofeld are included, complemented by new ones that make extensive useof the enhanced possibilities.

In addition to the Wavetable Oscillators, Nave offers an oscillator module featuring the novel Überwave that can fatten your sound by up to eight detuned oscillators.

The filter offers the familiar outstanding Waldorf sound, featuring lowpass, bandpass and highpass with either 12dB or 24dB slope.

The Drive section offers different characteristics, and it can be positioned in the signal path: before or after the filter, or as a summing overdrive before or after the equalizer – for those who prefer harsh screaming sounds over delicate Wavetable sweeps.

An extended modulation matrix and diverse real time control functionality is waiting for animating Nave sounds in any desired direction.

Besides the classic virtual chromatic keyboard, Nave can be played with the “Blades” that allow for dynamic triggering of polyphonic modulation by sliding the fingers in x or y direction.

The 4-track recorder can be used to build your own Nave songs or to simply sketch your music, inspired by the sounds of Nave.

Rhythm Studio For iPad

Rhythm Studio For iPad

Rhythm Studio balances advanced music making features by using an easy to understand interface resembling real instruments. This means that one button does one thing just like it would with real hardware. Knobs turn, switches slide, and buttons press. You won’t get lost in abstract interfaces, menus, or design.

Imagine having a studio of rare vintage synths and drum machines in the palm of your hand. Beautifully rendered synthesizers make seeing the app as enjoyable as hearing it. Rhythm Studio is the next best thing to having the real hardware.

Rhythm Studio allows you to make music the way you want to by giving you three different ways to create your song.

Unity Synthesizer

Unity synthesizer can create professional quality synth sounds with on screen or external MIDI keyboard. The base configuration includes two synth engines (Retro AS-1 analog and Unity DS-1 sample playback) and twenty three audio effects, along with seven sound banks including General MIDI, Best of Retro AS-1, Pipe Organ, Rock Pop drum and percussion loops banks. An arpeggiator, sequencer, and scales can be used for real-time MIDI playback.

What’s New in Version 1.2.3

– Audiobus support

Additional in-app purchases include sound libraries and banks, synth and effects parameter editors, appearances, arpeggiators, sequences, and scales.

Fourteen synthesis engines along with twenty three audio effects are part of the complete package. All synthesizer, modulation, and effects parameter editing is supported to edit existing sounds, or create your own new ones. User banks can be stored to iCloud, allowing you to access your custom sounds from all of your iOS devices.

Standard MIDI file sequences are supported via the Document folder accessed via iTunes.

Synthesis engines:

AS-1 – analog model with three oscillators, ring modulator, two multimode filters, and portamento
DS-1 – sample playback with two stereo time-stretch oscillators, two multimode filters, and portamento
SP-1 – sample playback for AIFF or wave files
BW-1 – bowed string model with bow, position, and string parameters
CL-1 – clarinet model with breath, reed, mouthpiece, embouchure, and bore parameters
BR-1 – brass model with breath, mouthpiece, embouchure, and bore parameters
FL-1 – flute model with breath, embouchure, and bore parameters
EP-1 – electric piano model with hammer, tine, and pickup parameters
HS-1 – hammered dual string model with hammer, string, and filter parameters
GL-1 – glottal model with oscillator and two eight stage vocal tracts
FM-1 – eight oscillator frequency modulation with variable audio routings
VS-1 – four oscillator sampled vector synthesis
WS-1 – eight oscillator sampled wave sequencing
AS-2 – analog model with five oscillator, ring modulator, three multimode filter, and portamento

All synthesis engines include a complete modulation matrix. Modulation sources include MIDI controllers as well as the envelopes, LFOs, ramps, and random generators. Modulation destinations include volume and pan as well as synthesis engine specific ones such as the AS-1 filter cutoff, or CL-1 breath input. Modulation routings route a source to a destination by an amount with optional tables or smoothing.

LH Rubbing Synthesizer

LH Rubbing is a polyphony software synthesizer app for iPad running on iOS 6.0 or later. There are three wave oscillators, one noise oscillator, two LFOs and one three type embedded filter (low-pass, hi-pass and bandpass). Each wave oscillator can generate three kinds of waveform which are triangle, square and saw wave. LFO can be attached to different modul for different modulation or control such as OSC Pitch, PW, Filter Cutoff Frequency, Filter Resonance and OSC Output Mixing. he frequency and amplitude of the 1st LFO can be modified by the 2nd LFO. Pitch, Filter Cutoff Frequency and Resonance can be controlled by the ADSR envelope generator. The Keyboard Rubbing brings up vibrato while controlling the vibrato rate and depth.

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Native Instruments, The Grammt Museum and many more.
