Lemur On iPad Controlling Reason

Here you will see someone controlling the Reason step sequencer with Lemur on an iPad. We found this video while scouring the web. Here is what the description said:

Adapted the stepSeq_4 module from the JazzMutant team to create a multi value step sequencer that triggers a granular combinator patch in Reason 6. This is definitely a way to obtain more musical results from the Lemur – Reason combination, but it lacks transport synchronization.

Musix iPad App

A unique instrument/control surface where you can learn every Major/Minor chord in 2 minutes. The hexagon note layout allows songwriters to discover new melodies and musical relations, as well, novices can learn how to play music. If you want more sounds than the built in instrument Musix offers Midi (DSMI) and OSC out to control anything you want.

“Anyone who loves music, regardless of skill level, owes it to themselves to experience Musix. Simply exploring the app will open musical doors you never knew existed.” – 148apps.com

NOTE: Musix is NOT meant to teach you how to play a piano! It is it’s own instrument that has many benefits over a piano. By playing you will learn real relations between notes and patterns within music.

The definitive isomorphic keyboard.
Musix is a fully-customizable multiple-layout isomorphic musical keyboard.

Each hexagon on the screen is a note, and surrounding hexagons are harmonically related.

WHY MUSIX:

– Learn how to play every major and minor chord in minutes
– Play along with your favorite song without practicing for years
– Learn one shape, play in any key
– Explore music by the relationship between notes
not by placement on an instrument
– Play along with your friends without being an expert
– Release the song in your head

FEATURES:

✔ Different Key Sizes
✔ Slide the keys to show the notes you need
✔ Multiple Instrument Sounds
✔ OSC/Midi Support
– Inter-note expressivity
✔ Preset Layouts
✔ Create Your Own Layout (iPad only)
✔ Play along with your favourite songs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

What this means is that once you have learned a pattern, say a chord
or a scale, that pattern is the same for all keys, even the dreaded
A-Flat! What’s more, you can learn to play melodies on a traditional
keyboard by playing them on the Musix keyboard and watching where the
sharps and flats go.

Songwriters benefit by discovering new melodies and musical
relationships. Novices find it easy to learn to play. Experienced
musicians are rewarded with an intuitive interface.

There are many isomorphic keyboards out there, from concertinas,
accordions, and “jammers” (which use the wicki-hayden layout) to
harmonic-table keyboards and more. You can have them all in one
application, and more besides.

Hexagonal isomorphic keyboards are defined by the harmonic
relationship between the keys. You can define the relationship in two
directions, say a major third and a minor third, and the third
direction is the difference of these two intervals (in this case, a
semitone).

Musix comes with a set of built-in layouts which use different
harmonic relationships between the notes. Each layout has its own
advantages and disadvantages. For example, the harmonic table layout
allows you to play a major or minor chord with one finger, by
touching at the intersection of any three hexagons. The Wicki-Hayden
layout puts all the white keys together. Try them all and find one
that works for you.

Musix has six real-time FM-synthesized instrument sounds. No wavetables
here. Each note sound is synthesized on-the-fly, meaning that you get
the full richness of bass and brightness of treble that the ipad
speaker or your headphones can generate.

You can change the size of the keys to fit your fingers and your
dexterity – start practicing with epic-sized keys and as you get
better you can make the keys smaller to give you more notes on the
screen. Keyboard layouts are fully customizable – create your own
isomorphic keyboard centred on any note. Remove the note labels for a
clean look.

Musix is available for $0.99

You also can create any pads banks you need for the pads controller. All pages and pads banks can be shared via iTunes with a desktop computer.

TB MIDI Stuff use CoreMidi : you can use any supported device, like the native WiFi driver or the camera connection kit with an external sound card. Each page can use a different CoreMidi driver. Also works with Virtual MIDI Ports applications capable.

Rock solid standard
Major stadium-touring acts use Lemur on stage. The original hardware version was introduced to the public in 2004 and Lemur software now benefits from nearly 10 years of development. These are just two of the reasons Lemur is the name cited when talking about multitouch control.

Control anything
Lemur is a professional iOS controller app that doesn’t cut any corners. It lets you control anything, any way you want. Total flexibility means it can go as deep as you need it to. Lemur can control DJ software, live electronic music performance software, studio production software (DAWs), VJ software, visual synthesis software, stage lighting and more. In fact, any software or hardware that can be controlled by MIDI/OSC can be controlled by Lemur.

A controller unequalled
Lemur has often been imitated but never equalled. The physics engine, which can make faders and balls bounce, is entirely unique: allowing anything from a slight organic feel to absolutely chaotic modulations. Lemur goes deep: it comes with more than twice as many objects as comparable apps. Options for adjusting the look and feel of objects are vast, and connection to your gear is simple.

User Library
Access templates from top artists and the Lemur community. Some of these are actual templates used on stage, others are pure studio or creative tools. Share your own or simply browse the library and download whatever suits your needs.

SPECIFICATIONS

– Objects
Fader; Multislider, Range; Multiball; Knob; RingArea; Switches; Pads; Custom Button; Container; Breakpoint; Leds; LemurMenu; Monitor; SignalScope; SurfaceLCD; Text

– Physics
Hated physics at school? Now you’ll love it! The behaviour of many Lemur objects can be affected by powerful and easy to use physical models which can make your controller bounce, rebound and oscillate. Make your controller come alive.

– Scripting
There’s absolutely no need to dive into scripting if you don’t want to. But if you’re the type who likes to get their hands dirty then there’s a powerful scripting engine inside Lemur. Harnessing this power will allow you to build extremely dynamic templates.

– Editor
The Lemur editor, is a cross-platform (OS X/Windows) interface builder. It allows you to create new Lemur templates or edit existing ones. The drag & drop interface makes it easy to use. It allows you to create anything from the simplest set of faders to the most complex groovebox with no hassle.

– Connectivity
Simply connect your iPad/iPhone to your laptop over Wi-Fi and make the connection! Lemur also supports CoreMIDI allowing you to use hardware interfaces such as Alesis’ iO Dock or the iConnectMIDI or class-compliant USB MIDI interfaces (with a camera connection kit). You can even control up to 8 computers from one iPad with Lemur!

Community – Liine has a Lemur community user library online. Sign up, tag, and trade Lemur templates. http://liine.net/en/community/user-library/
