Auxy

Auxy introduces a new way to make modern music on iPad. With a clean interface, stripped of unnecessary complexity, it encourages users to dive straight into the creative process and explore modern beat making without distraction.

With Auxy you create drums, bass lines and melody loops by drawing notes instead of recording instruments in real time. Loops can then be mixed and recorded to create your own beats.

PhonoPaper For iPad

PhonoPaper is:
• format of graphical representation of the sound (music, human voice, etc.); in other words, it is the 2D audio barcode (by analogy with the QR-code);
• real-time PhonoPaper-code reader (using the camera);
• PhonoPaper-code generator (sound to image converter).

Key features:
• PhonoPaper-code is analogue, so it is not so sensitive to different types of the image distortion (bad camera, dark picture, wrinkled paper, etc.); at least you will hear the “silhouette” of the original sound;
• PhonoPaper does not require access to the network; its code is self-contained;
• PhonoPaper-code can be played in real-time with hand-controlled speed and direction;
• PhonoPaper-code can be drawn by hand (paper version of the Virtual ANS synth);
• PhonoPaper is free!

Examples of usage:
• voice messages (or pieces of music) on the billboards, posters, postcards, goods;
• audio labels for phonorecords;
• audio examples in some textbooks;
• art-experiments;
• learning the basics of the spectral music.

PhonoPaper is based on the Virtual ANS engine – it is a software simulator of the unique Russian synthesizer ANS. So if you want to make more complex PhonoPaper-codes – use the Virtual ANS.

Default PhonoPaper-code length is 10 seconds. But you can make it shorted or longer – playing speed can be changed manually.

Arpist Arpeggiator For iPhone

Arpist is an arpeggiator designed for MIDI hardware, iOS instrument apps and DAW environments, Arpist processes MIDI input to generate musical arpeggios and rhythms.

You can create rhythmic dynamics using the variable-step Rhythm Grid, in which you can create loud and soft steps, play chords for emphasis and skip steps altogether.

Arpist stores settings in snapshots, called Song Blocks. You can organize your settings across multiple Song Blocks to sequence through various patterns and rhythms while you play.

Key Signature and Transpose controls allow you to diatonically transpose your patterns, in any key, in real-time.

Advanced features include MIDI Remote Control and MIDI Clock Send and Sync. With MIDI Remote Control, you can manipulate Arpist’s controls from your keyboard, even when Arpist is in the background.

Note that Arpist is a MIDI generator, not a synthesizer. Enjoy Arpist with your favorite keyboard or iOS synth app.

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Native Instruments, The Grammt Museum and many more.
