Sound Font Player For iPad

First glimpse of after touch pressure sensitivity on an iPhone. The following video shows Bismark BS-16i using aftertouch.

bs-16i is a 16 multi-timbral playback sampler. It supports SoundFont, and can be used for keyboard instrument, MIDI sound module, and MIDI player.

The sampler engine is ported from bs-1 / bs-16, which is developed as professional plug-in for Logic (Audio Units) and Cubase (VST instrument).

Using SoundFont libraries, you can play with your great number of Instruments.
It supports all standard MIDI messages, using pre-installed GeneralUser GS SoftSynth v1.44.sf2 (S. Christian Collins), your iPhone and iPad can be used as a GM (General MIDI) sound module.

As a keyboard instrument, you can play with scalable screen keyboard, pitch bend wheel, and many control change controllers.

Internal MIDI player supports SMF (Standard MIDI File) format, and bounced wave can be shared with other apps using AudioCopy.

SoundFont and SMF files can be sent to bs-16i by using the file sharing functions of iTunes, and OpenIn from other apps (DropBox, etc).

Moreover, this application supports Core MIDI Interface like as IK Multimedia iRig KEYS / iRig MIDI, YAMAHA iMX-1, LINE6 MIDI Mobilizer 2, Apple Lightning -USB Camera Adapter with USB Generic MIDI Interface, and Bluetooth accessory (Miselu C.24, QUICCO SOUND mi.1, etc. iOS8 or later only). With them you can communicate with other external MIDI hardware like as synthesizer, sequencer. Also bs-16i can be background and drived from other apps using Virtual MIDI.

Audiobus technology is supported. You can send bs-16i’s output stream to other apps via Audiobus app. Also with iOS7 and later Inter-App Audio is supported. You can send bs-16i’s output stream to other apps directly.

Fieldscaper

FieldScaper – Sound warp field recorder and scape constructor.

Igor Vasiliev maker of the amazing SoundScaper app has just announced a new app called FieldScaper a sound manipulation and experimentation app for altering field recordings on the fly.

Advanced field recorder combined with sound warp engine with a collection of ready to use dynamic presets for iPad and iPhone. Discover new ways to create and construct unusual and exciting sounds from any environmental audio recordings or samples recorded from other apps through Inter-App audio or Audiobus.

The main purpose of this advanced app is to shorten the way from recording samples to create spectacular soundscapes and in addition to use this app as glitch loop based effect in the real-time.

The FieldScaper consists of two main parts. The first part is the field recorder with special options for different ways of record environmental sound from microphone or record other sound sources. The second part is the scaper sound engine that with using dynamic presets can easily transform the most ordinary samples into something absolutely different. These parts connect with each other into one whole but you can use recorder or scaper separately.

The scaper sound engine contains three sample-based oscillators each with filters, delay, distortion and spatial mixer. The most of parameters can be assigned on individual low-frequency oscillators. With using the “Main effect” fader you can control several these parameters in different ranges. These features give you the abilty to create continuously changing, breaking and glitching sound forms and loop-based effects from ordinary samples of synths, guitars, voices or everyday sounds of the environment.

FieldScaper supports complete MIDI control for all faders, knobs and many buttons. You can change the parameters of oscillators, filters, delays and mixer by using any external MIDI controller or MIDI apps like sequencers. With the MIDI controllers this app becomes very comfortable to use at live performance.

iVoxel Vocoder App Icon

iVoxel is a combination of a voice optimized synthesizer and a vocoder. The vocoder part is based on the Matrix vocoder from VirSyn used by many famous artists – one of them the well known german group Kraftwerk. The channel filters used by iVoxel are based on the Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201 resulting in a rich and fat analogue sound characteristic.

The pitch follower and automatic tuning let you sing correct to a selectable scale.

You can use iVoxel in many different ways:

As a realtime vocoder talking into the microphone while playing tunes on the keyboard. The sound character of your voice can be changed in many different aspects like pitch, gender or breath noise. Use it to sing over your favorite iTunes song.

Record the analyzed spectrum of phrases and words from your own voice. Then use this voxel to play with your own voice on the keyboard or with the build in sequencer. Nearly 300 hundred prerecorded voxels are already included.

The output of your creations can be recorded to an audio file which you
can use with other Apps and programs for further processing.

What’s new:
Version 2.8
Import via open in and Audioshare
Real time voxel recorder
Other sample rates supported
Improved scrubbing

Mobile Convolution Reverb For iOS

Mobile-Convolution-Reverb-Icon

LiquidSonics Mobile Convolution is a true-stereo reverb processor for use with Audiobus and Inter-App Audio hosts. It allows impulse responses to be stretched, cropped and envelopes to be applied for shaping the sound of a reverb in a very natural and musical way. A configurable pre-delay provides the ability to push a reverb back into a sound-field or to creatively add rhythmic delay effects. The IR mirror mode adds further creative potential for ghostly reversed reverb effects with natural decays, or reverbs that gather into a crescendo.

With the high, low and peaking audio filters you can make adjustments to a space’s frequency spectrum, rolling off lows, highs or accentuating specific frequencies of interest with the variable gain and width control of the peak filter.

Stereo and true stereo impulse responses up to 90 seconds long can be loaded with very low input/output delay (latency). Mobile Convolution uses the same great LiquidSonics convolution engine that powers the desktop plug-ins which are used in both home and professional studios worldwide every day.

Browse and load impulse responses directly from the internet. Propellerheads have blogged a nice list here https://www.propellerheads.se/blog/free-reverb-resources-where-to-find-impulse-responses

A collection of true stereo impulse responses is provided, and external impulse responses can be added quickly and easily via Open-In… support in apps like Mail, Safari and Dropbox, downloaded directly from within the app or added via iTunes File Sharing.

Internal preset save and recall is provided, as well as Audiobus state-save recall support.

App For Polyphonic Audio to MIDI Conversion
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

MIDImorphosis

MIDImorphosis is an app for polyphonic audio to MIDI conversion. Traditional MIDI converters for guitar and bass require custom pickups and expensive hardware. MIDImorphosis avoids this through advanced signal processing and adaptive algorithms, bringing polyphonic audio conversion to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. The app tracks both single notes and chords quickly and accurately. You can use any guitar or bass to control MIDI synthesizers or transcribe your playing automatically.

MIDImorphosis captures the pitch of incoming audio, and converts it into MIDI notes that can be used to control iOS synthesizers or external equipment. The app supports both monophonic and polyphonic playing; this version has dramatically improved chord detection.

With support for CoreMIDI, Virtual MIDI, DSMIDI Wifi, Audiobus, and background audio, connecting MIDImorphosis is a snap. Connections to laptop and desktop computers can be made using WiFi or with MIDI adapter cables.

The app is designed to work best with a guitar or bass. We recommend dock-based instrument adapters; connections through the headphone jack frequently have crosstalk and poor frequency response. We also recommend running MIDImorphosis on an iPhone4s or better, or an iPad2 or better (this is especially true when using Audiobus).

Complex sounds can be created by combining a typical guitar effects app along with MIDImorphosis and a synthesizer app. The guitar effects app can provide tone control and immediate response, while the synthesizer can augment this with a deep, evolving sound.

Musicians transcribing their work will find MIDImorphosis to be an invaluable tool. The app can send MIDI notes to notation software such as GuitarPro (desktop version only) and Progression (available for iOS).

MIDImorphosis

In addition to live conversion, MIDImorphosis can also convert recordings into MIDI (avoiding latency issues). The app can record audio; audio can also be imported using either Audio Copy or iTunes File sharing. Audio can be exported with Audio Paste. MIDI can be exported to other apps using the “open in” feature, or through iTunes. The app also allows scanning through audio files, to see the detected pitch at any given moment; this feature should be particularly useful to musicians interested in transcribing a recording. Recorded audio and converted MIDI can be played back through the app. The app is compatible with the Audiobus input and output slots.

A number of videos are available on the app web page, to illustrate typical performance, and playing techniques to get the most out of the app. For guitarists, a light palm mute should be used to prevent unwanted notes from ringing. Pitch detection is typically best with the bridge pickup, and with a clean tone.

With any conversion system, there is latency between a note played on an instrument, and when the note can be correctly identified; the slight delay motivates the combination of guitar effects and synthesizers. MIDImorphosis should be fast enough to work well for playing at moderate speeds. For accurate note identification and pitch tracking, it’s critical to play “clean,” and to mute unwanted notes; you may have to adjust your playing style to get the best performance from the app. For guitarists in need of a system that can handle “shredding,” we would recommend hardware converters by companies such as Roland or Fishman.
