Enkl monophonic synthesizer for iPad

Enkl is a fully featured monophonic synthesizer can create a huge variety of sounds. Fat basses, stabby leads, glitchy noises, old style chip tune sounds (including arpeggios), weird percussion, you name it. Enkl does the job!

Enkl comes with 93 high quality factory presets, all crafted by professional music producers. Of course it is possible to create new ones and save.

The Extended Keyboard makes Enkl really fun to play in standalone mode, choose scale, key and hit it off.

With Inter App Audio, AudioBus and MIDI support it’s easy to connect the app to other DAW apps, MIDI generator apps or external devices.

When it comes to MIDI, Enkl supports both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT. It’s even possible to play other MIDI compatible instruments with the Extended Keyboard.

Noteworthy features:

• Realtime rendered audio – no samples involved

• Two separate oscillators with separate LFO’s

• Oscillators can generate Triangle, Sawtooth, Square or Noise waveforms

• Oscillators can be summed or multiplied together

• Each LFO has its own ADSR and modulates its oscillator’s pitch or volume

• High cut and low cut filter with resonance (also controllable via MIDI)

• Chiptune-style arpeggiator

• Legato mode

• Ping-pong delay as a post effect

• Three band EQ as a post effect

• MIDI support (including IAA MIDI and Virtual MIDI)

• Extended Keyboard for live performing (also sends MIDI to any output port)

• Local on / off

• Pitch bend, Modulation, Low Cut, High Cut and Resonance controllable via MIDI

• Comes with 93 factory presets

• Documentation within app

• Inter App Audio support

• AudioBus support including state saving

Spacelab Synthesizer For iPad

Spacelab Monophonic Synthesiver for iPad V 1.1 by Iglesia Intermedia – Waaaaay cool synth by the makers of MiniMash. Glad to see something from them. The UI design is very intuitive. There is no other synth like this. What really makes it stand out are the various layouts for playing it. It has four ways to play: keyboard, graph, guitar, and wind controller. Underneath those interfaces is a fully programmable subtractive synth with oscillators, filters, envelopes, effects, FM, presets, an arpeggiator, full MIDI control, and much more.

What’s New in Version 1.0.3

-Fix crash on saving presets
-Manually rotate orientation
-Creates virtual MIDI port for intra-app communication
-Optional run audio while in background (for use with iOS sequencers)

You get two oscillators and both can sync to BPM! Also get an arpeggiator, tap tempo, Bit Crusher, FM, gestures such as tilt, and X/Y pad.

Seems like there are still a few glitches with this app. I noticed some clicking/interrupted tones. The X/Y pad could be a bit smoother. I didn’t like swiping to select the different layouts. I would prefer that to be a simple button.

This is a universal app so it’s also works great on an iPhone.

Things I would like to see in future updates: a poly version, a step sequencer, strum mode for guitar, different tunings for guitar, normal pitch bend wheel or slider, modulation wheel or slider.

Spacelab is available for $0.99

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Loopmasters and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
