SEQ3X64 MIDI Step Sequencer
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

SEQ3X64 is a MIDI step sequencer, with two melodic tracks and one drums track. Each track can be from 2 to 64 steps long. Up to 16 projects can be stored in the sequencer memory, each project containing up 16 sequences on each track.

Each step on the melodic tracks has its own configuration (note number, velocity and gate length), and can be tied to next step in order to get any note length. The two melodic tracks can also be transposed in real time.

The drums track can trigger 16 different events (note number, velocity and gate length). Each step on drums track can trigger the 16 events at the same time.

The three tracks can be configured independently in terms of direction (forward, reverse, alternate) and time division (1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32). Each track can also be used in triplet mode and can have a different number of steps. Tempo can be set from 30 to 300 bpm. SEQ3X64 can be clocked internally or externally, and it can provide MIDI synchronization data to other MIDI devices as a Master.

SEQ3X64 has been specifically designed to stay compatible with older iOS versions (iOS 5.1 minimum). A nice way to recycle an older iPad…

Tutorial for the application is available here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsUXwCLDJGU

IMPORTANT : SEQ3X64 requires a iOS compatible MIDI interface connected to the iPad via a Camera Connection Kit (for iPads 1/2/3) or a Lightning USB cable (for iPads 4or greater, iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPad Pro)

ChordFlow Update With Melody Tracks
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , , , ,

ChordFlow is a songwriting sketchpad that will help you create amazing chord progressions and melodies for your songs fast and easily

What’s New in Version 2.1.0
=== MELODY TRACKS ===
Each song section can now have up to 4 melody tracks in addition to 4 arpeggio tracks that we had already. So you can now create complete song ideas with chord progressions, arpeggios, and melodies. Melodies are edited in the separate(from arpeggio) grid. You can specify scale of the melody grid and configure the length and the rate parameters. The chords that you configured in the chord progression editor will be shown in the melody grid view below the note grid. And also for more convenience, chord notes will be highlighted with grey rounded bars allowing you to see which notes of the melody matches the corresponding chord.

=== NEW TRACK CONTROL PANEL ===
There is now a track control panel in the main view, at the bottom, where you can specify destination of each track and mute/solo individual tracks. This settings are now stored individually for each song.

=== LOOP REGIONS IN ARPEGGIO AND MELODY EDITOR ===
You can now loop a region when you are in the arpeggio or melody editor. To add a loop region, tap on the timeline bar above the note grid. After that, the loop with the default length of 4 steps will be added. You can then move the loop region around dragging it by its center or you can stretch and squeeze it by dragging it by its ends. To remove the loop region just tap on it again. The loop region is only active while you are in the editor view. When you move back to the main view, the loop is automatically removed.

=== OTHER CHANGES ===
– Remove(Trash) button in arpeggio and melody editors now removes only the selected track. And there is no moro annoying confirm. If you tap remove button accidentally, you can restore the deleted track with the undo button.

– Line tool and delete tool behaviour changed a little. Before this update, when you started to draw a line or delete a region, you could only extend the already drown region. Now it behaves more expectedly. If you have drawn a line further than you needed you can no move back to make it smaller

– Arpeggio grid max length increased to from 32 to 64 steps.

– Color scheme changed. After introducing 4 new colors for melody tracks, I decided to switch to more neutral background colors, as it was not looking very good on the original blue schema.

Senode Graphical Step Sequencer
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

SENODE is a new music composition app for iPad. It extends the concept of linear step sequencers to a freely connectable graph with an unlimited number of instruments traveling along the edges. The simple “finite state machine” model allows you to create complex polyphonic sequences and play them in real-time.

(quick start video)

CREATE COMPLEX SEQUENCES WITH RANDOMIZATION

The core of Senode is a graph of Nodes connected by Edges. You decide if it behaves like a simple vending machine or a complex pinball game. Each Node triggers a sound when activated, while Edges determine the direction of travel. Instruments are controlled by Emitters which send their Tokens onto the graph. That means, you can compose a generative music piece for a whole orchestra using the graph notation and a couple of Emitters! It gets more interesting if you add random directions or emit multiple Tokens at different time positions.

GRAPHICAL MULTI-TOUCH INTERFACE

You can compose and perform your music live using the intuitive multi-touch interface. The on-screen keyboard helps you to visualize and edit notes assigned to the currently selected Node. Drag and connect Nodes with multiple fingers or use the lasso tool. Activate a sequence by sending Tokens onto the graph. Use your fingers to step through sequences manually or tap the master clock. All synth parameters are accessible from the main panel with multi-touch as well.

INTEGRATED SYNTHESIZER

Each Emitter contains a simple but powerful subtractive synthesizer with main OSC (sine, saw, square), sub OSC (sine), 1-pole lowpass filter, stereo reverb and ADSR envelope. Try the demo patches to get inspired!

CONTROL MUSIC APPS AND EXTERNAL DEVICES

Senode is the perfect sequencer for all MIDI-capable apps. If you connect a MIDI interface, you can even control your hardware synths with the app.

EASY COMPOSITION WITH MIDI INPUT AND STEP RECORDING

Use the step record function to create new nodes on the fly, either from single notes or with chord detection. For advanced compositions, we recommend to connect a MIDI keyboard via lightning adapter and capture your song ideas as you play.

REALTIME CONTROL

Senode is made for live music performance. There are no default “beats” or “bars” and all actions are performed in real time. However, Tokens can be quantized to a master clock (16th resolution) and support catch-up, which means you can hit all functions like a drummer “on the spot” and stay in sync, even if you’re too early or a little late. By the way, the really cool stuff will happen if you break free from 4/4 bar schemes, start your sequences on off-beat timings or create crazy polyrhythmic cycles…

KEY FEATURES

– innovative non-linear graphical sequencer with draggable multi-touch interface
– integrated polyphonic synthesizer with sine wave, square and saw oscillators, ADSR, filter and reverb
– unlimited number of steps and directions: cycles, randomized, one-shot – everything possible
– real-time sequencer control with master clock and catch-up quantization
