Photon AU MIDI Sequencer

Photon AU – Midi Recorder with Pad playback & Groove. Record your midi performances using this audio unit in your DAW then save/export them as standard midi files via email or directly to other apps.

Load midi files using Airdrop (uses the standalone version) & select your track to import in the AU version.

Up to four pads can be loaded with midi file data & played back with variations in transposition, loudness, tempo, parts defined as start/duration

You can also load a midi file as a Groove file to allow it to replace midi timing or velocity in your recorded/loaded midi file thereby conforming your buffer midi to the groove pattern (eg trancegate effects)

Photon MIDI Sequencer Audio Unit

Most controls automated as AU Parameters (quick record, pad controls, pad playback etc)

Xequence Update Audiobus 3 Support
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , , ,

Xequence is a highly professional, fast & stable MIDI sequencer, arranger & controller for iPhone & iPad.

What’s New
Version History
Aug 28, 2018 Version 1.8

COMPLETE AUDIOBUS 3 SUPPORT:

– SIDEBAR: Audiobus sidebar for switching between connected apps, with access to all Xequence transport controls (Play, Stop (the Rewind icon) and Record) from any other Audiobus app.

– SYNCHRONIZATION: Full synchronization (Start, Stop, Tempo, Phase). Please note that Ableton Link has to be enabled in Xequence, all participating apps, and Audiobus.

– MIDI OUT: 16 Audiobus MIDI Out ports for connecting up to 16 Xequence instruments to 16 separate Audiobus MIDI lanes or apps. Displays connected apps’ names inside Xequence.

– COMPATIBILITY NOTE: Some apps hosted in Audiobus as a MIDI receiver might not work correctly due to implementation issues in these apps. In these cases, please send the MIDI directly to the app (do not put the target app on Audiobus’ MIDI screen. Instead, put it as a source on the Audio screen and select the app itself as the MIDI Destination on Xequence’s instruments screen). This problem can only be fixed by the receiver app developers.

– MIDI IN: Audiobus MIDI In port for recording the MIDI output of other Audiobus apps. (all input will currently be merged to a single track, i.e. multitrack MIDI recording is not yet supported, but will be in a future update.)

– MIDI THRU: Xequence’s usual MIDI Thru will also work inside Audiobus, passing whatever is received from the MIDI lane OR from any other source selected in Xequence’s settings to the current track’s instrument, which can be an Audiobus destination, hardware, OR another app.

– STATE SAVING AND RESTORE: Xequence will save the current project, including all modifications done since the last save, in the Audiobus preset, and restore it when a preset is recalled.

– MIDI MERGE: Xequence merges all MIDI input both from the Audiobus lane AND any other MIDI sources, both hardware and software, and can record it or send it to the current track’s instrument (MIDI Thru).

– Please note that Audiobus MIDI and State Saving still are very new and evolving technologies, and you may encounter issues which are caused by problems in third-party apps. However, please do let us know if you have a problem that you suspect might be due to a Xequence bug, and we’re happy to investigate.

IMPROVEMENTS:

– MIDI Input has been cleaned up: The “Any” source has been replaced by “Xequence Destination” and can be enabled alongside the other available sources. To send MIDI to “Xequence Destination”, most apps have a menu that will list “Xequence Destination” so you can send to it. Of course, the other way around (Xequence actively connects to other sources) is still available by enabling one of the other sources in the “Select MIDI sources” panel.
– Better contrast for instrument colors in “Light” theme.
– Pianoroll: When switching between note and velocity editing, scroll and zoom are now preserved.
– Various optimizations.

FIXES:

– Pianoroll: Fix vertical scrolling of keys on the left sometimes not in sync with scroll position of editor.
– Pianoroll: Fix slightly wrong vertical zoom in Drum editor mode when using “Zoom All” with the ruler enabled and “Ruler Auto-Dismiss” disabled.
– Keyboard: Fix sliders with “Return” option sometimes not returning to their zero position.

Grid Music Adds Velocity Cells
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

Grid Music is a handy little step sequencer with probability. I did a demo / review of the app and realized that I really like this one. This update is very nice.

What’s new in Grid Music v2.2.0:

• New: Velocity Cells

Velocity cells (stars) change the loudness and MIDI velocity of all notes when active. If a velocity cell is set to the lowest value, it is a rest (labelled “—”). If a rest is active, note cells will not make any sound and no MIDI note messages will be sent on that step.

Use velocity cells to add dynamics to your patterns, or create variations on a sequence of notes by adding a sequence of rests with a different interval. The new “16 Step Velocity” template can be used as a starting point for this technique.

• New: Octave Range

You can now adjust the range of note cells from 1 to 5 octaves.

• New: Added templates featuring velocity cells.
• Changed: The default MIDI velocity is now 80, or mezzo-forte (labelled “mf” on velocity cells).
• Changed: The full volume of the built-in synthesizer is louder.
• Changed: The Shift setting has a wider range, from -3 to +3 octaves.
• Changed: Pattern Length is now called Measure Length.
• Fixed: The Play button is now easier to tap.
• Fixed: Playback no longer stops when deleting the current pattern (if there is one before or after to replace it).
• Fixed: Document thumbnails would sometimes not be updated.

Grid Music is a miniature workshop for creative MIDI sequencing. It can be used to compose classic 16-step patterns, but can also create loops, random branches, and polyrhythm. Its 5×5 grid allows for countless arrangements of melody and timbre while keeping the entire composition visible and easy to understand. Pitch and rhythm can be directly manipulated by touch, and the structure of a pattern can be altered in just a few taps.

Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

Xequence is an advanced linear MIDI Sequencer and Keyboard / Controller for iPhone and iPad. It makes a great MIDI companion with apps like AUM.

NOTE: This app does not produce any sound by itself! It can control OTHER apps or hardware via MIDI!

What’s New in Version 1.5

– MIDI File Import: Import type 0, 1 or 2 standard MIDI files, including controllers, program changes and track titles, with various options and automatic creation of tracks and instruments.
– MIDI File Export: Export type 1 standard MIDI files, including controllers, program changes and instrument titles, with various options (entire song, only selected parts, etc.).
– MIDI Program Changes: Can be inserted on any tracks at any points in the song, with full backtracing just like with controllers (when changing song position, previous program changes are automatically found and sent).
– Global Clipboard: Parts from any number of tracks can be copied and pasted (either linked or independent) between arbitrary tracks and song positions, or even between different projects. Extremely smart and robust handling of linked parts and track assignment. Options can be found in new “+” menu at the bottom left.
– Up to 12 controllers per instrument (In-App Purchase).
– Arranger: “Insert empty part” (in new “+” menu).

IMPROVEMENTS:

– Arranger: Various layout and usability tweaks.

SEQ3X64 MIDI Step Sequencer
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

SEQ3X64 is a MIDI step sequencer, with two melodic tracks and one drums track. Each track can be from 2 to 64 steps long. Up to 16 projects can be stored in the sequencer memory, each project containing up 16 sequences on each track.

Each step on the melodic tracks has its own configuration (note number, velocity and gate length), and can be tied to next step in order to get any note length. The two melodic tracks can also be transposed in real time.

The drums track can trigger 16 different events (note number, velocity and gate length). Each step on drums track can trigger the 16 events at the same time.

The three tracks can be configured independently in terms of direction (forward, reverse, alternate) and time division (1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32). Each track can also be used in triplet mode and can have a different number of steps. Tempo can be set from 30 to 300 bpm. SEQ3X64 can be clocked internally or externally, and it can provide MIDI synchronization data to other MIDI devices as a Master.

SEQ3X64 has been specifically designed to stay compatible with older iOS versions (iOS 5.1 minimum). A nice way to recycle an older iPad…

Tutorial for the application is available here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsUXwCLDJGU

IMPORTANT : SEQ3X64 requires a iOS compatible MIDI interface connected to the iPad via a Camera Connection Kit (for iPads 1/2/3) or a Lightning USB cable (for iPads 4or greater, iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPad Pro)
