Robotic Drums

Drum synth with probability sequencer. Demo video here: http://goo.gl/1E2HIa

Robotic Drums is an analog modeled drum synth coupled with a probability sequencer. This special combination, makes the app suitable for live sound manipulation, sequence experimentation and regular beats. The main highlights for this app are:

– A minimalist interface, with a high emphasis in flow.
– 6 analog modeled synthesized voices.
– A probability sequencer. You control how “random” a sequence is.
– Quantized pattern switching.
– Dropbox support for saving sessions and sharing across devices.
– AudioBus support.
– Midi clock sync support.

Some details:

VOICES

There are 6 analog modeled synthesized voices, each with a noise and an oscillator section. This flexible configuration allows each voice to generate sounds that range from punchy bass drums, to snappy snares, to lo-fi tones, to sound effects and much else in between.

THE PROBABILITY SEQUENCER

The sequencer for each voice is based on probabilities. A step on a sequence is not just a “switch” but a measure of “how likely is this step to be triggered”. This allows for highly dynamic sequences that maintain a certain base, but never sound the same from one pass to another.

THE PATTERNS SECTION

Each session can hold 16 patterns. Switching patterns in a live situation is always controlled by a “pattern quantization” parameter, which determines when the pattern switch actually happens. This allows for pattern switches to occur exactly when expected, maintaining the musical flow of a piece.

SESSIONS

Sessions can be saved to Dropbox, this allows to share sessions across devices or even to use as an easy method to share patches with the community.

Robotic Drums is available for $4.99

Swoopster Holderness Media

Swoopster is a wild, fuzzed out Flanger/Vibrato effect designed for Audiobus and Inter-app audio.

Process synths, drum machines and hundreds of other apps by connecting through Audiobus. Use Swoopster as an effect inside Garageband, Auria, Cubasis, and AudioShare using Audiobus or Inter-app audio.

Swoopster features two distinct modes:
PERFORM and TWEAK.

● PERFORM mode is focused around four XY touch pads. Touch to control flanger speed, manual, feedback and fuzz amount independently for left and right channels.

● TWEAK mode features large expressive sliders and additional effect parameters, allowing you to fine tune your sound.

The center panel of Swoopster’s interface is part of the instrument and meant to be played in real-time, including the scrollable preset list. Tap a preset to instantly load it’s settings, play different presets in rhythmic patterns, or re-trigger the current preset to restart the sweep of the Flanger. The MUTE and BYPASS buttons function as momentary switches for DJ mixer style control.

Echo Pad users loved the creative stereo imaging possible with its effects, and this approach continues with Swoopster. Both Perform and Tweak modes allow you to control the left and right channel’s effect parameters independently for wide stereo sound design. You can easily toggle between linked and unlinked channel parameters by tapping the LINK button.

In addition to Audiobus and Inter-app Audio support, Swoopster can also process external instruments such as guitar, voice and synths by connecting a microphone or professional audio interface such as the Apogee Jam, ONE, or any iOS compatible USB audio interface.

COMPATIBILITY:
● requires iOS 7.0 or later
● iPad Mini/iPad 2 or newer
● Audiobus compatible (Effect,Input and Output)
● Inter-App audio compatible (effect node)
● compatible with USB audio interfaces

Features:

● stereo Fuzz, Flange and Vibrato effect processor
● versatile flanger capable of sounds ranging from smooth phasey flange to wildly distorted, pitch shifted madness

touchAble 2 has been completely redesigned from the ground up, with stability and performance in mind – as well as an array of new and improved features.

touchAble offers no-compromise-control of Ableton Live from your iPad. Its modular interface allows to split the screen to show two modules at the same time – or to maximize the surface area of a single module.

And if the size of one iPad is not enough, you can use touchAble with as many iPads as you want.
Each module offers full feedback from Live, making sure you always know what you are tweaking.

The Modules include:

Clips:
The Clips Module is a touchAble representation of your Session View.

touchAble 2 introduces an overview that allows quick access to any position in the set.
Live 9 Users can use this module to manage their Live Set – Create or delete Tracks, Scenes, Clips and even stop buttons – without ever touching your Computer.

Edit MIDI Clips with the new MIDI Editor.
Drum Mode makes it easy to lay down a drum loop.
Chord Mode allows for precise note placements and lengths – in any scale you want.

Mixer:
touchAble’s Mixer lets you adjust Volumes, Sends and Pans.

Accurate dB readings and level meters allow you to take your eyes off the computer – and only focus on your mix.

The intuitive snap mode and multiple controls per track make it the perfect tool for live performances as well as studio-use.

Devices:

Intelligent Controls adapt to the type of control used in Live.
For some Live devices, a native template mimics the device in Live – providing an interface that will make you feel right at home.

Traditional Keyboard (1 to 4 octaves)
Drum Pads (8 in half, 16 in full mode)
Isomorphic Keyboard (8×4 in half, 8×8 in full mode)

Several optional control windows allow switching the Scale, enabling note-repeat or aftertouch or changing the current octave & velocity.
Positional velocity gives your recordings a human touch.

XY Pad
the XY Pad lets you assign and control up to 12 parameters at once.

Gravity Parameters on each of the dots let you create natural and interesting effects.
Take Snapshots and restore them in an instant – or morph between them.

Midi Over Bluetooth For iPad iPhone

Apollo Midi Over Bluetooth

MIDI connections between iOS devices have been a continual problem; hardware MIDI adapters are expensive and bulky, while MIDI over WiFi introduces too much latency.

With Apollo, MIDI can be sent over Bluetooth wireless connections, eliminating hardware adapters, and providing much lower latency than is possible with WiFi. Apollo uses Bluetooth LE: this is supported by the iPad3 and newer, the iPad Mini, the iPhone 4s and newer, and recent Mac desktop and laptop computers.

* Intro pricing — get it now! *

Want to use your iPad as a midi controller for an app on your iPhone? You can with Apollo.

** Important ** Apollo is not compatible with the iPad1 and 2, and the iPhone4 and earlier. Please make sure that your device supports Bluetooth LE.

Install the app on two iOS devices, select an “A” endpoint for one, and a “B” endpoint for the other. Press the search button on both, and a Bluetooth connection will be established. After connecting, MIDI messages sent to Apollo running on one device will be forwarded to the other — and these messages can then be redirected to synthesizer or sequencer apps.

In addition to MIDI connections between iOS devices, Apollo can also be used to connect to Mac desktop and laptop computers. Recent iMacs and MacBooks support Bluetooth LE; for older Macs, a USB Bluetooth adapter may be required. The OSX version of Apollo will be available in the Mac app store shortly. We have also made the OSX version available on the support web page, so that you can get the app prior to the release in the Mac App Store.

Visit the support web link for a video demo and more details about the app.

Apollo is available for $2.99

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs.
