The ELECTRONIC PIANO SYNTHESIZER (EPS) is the world first piano synthesizer for the iPad. Based on a 32bit realtime sound engine, the sounds are computed on the fly and no samples are used.
The EPS gives you possibilities you don´t have with any other Piano, EPiano or Synthesizer on the iPad. You can adjust the sound while you play on the keyboard and hear the changes immediately. That is what you need to tweak your own sounds. The EPS is not only for EPiano sounds, you can also make sounds like bass, brass, bells, chimes, toms, vibraphone, synth pads…
– 32bit float point polyphonic realtime sound engine
– CoreMIDI support
– 32 library patches to load and save
– 21 factory preset sounds
– multiple FX (vibrato, tremolo, delay, tube overdrive)
– over 7 octaves
– keyboard scrollable
– two different keyboard sizes
– second keyboard available over options
– simulated touch velocity
– one screen edit (you don´t have to switch thru different pages)
– last session save on closing app
– fast download and small app file size about 1.9mb (not dozens or hundreds of mb for samples)
iGOG – possibly the best drum machine for iPhone. Has touch sensitivity, multi-sampled instruments, a sequencer, and more. Jeez, I remember having a couple different drum machines back in the late 80s early 90s. Now all you need is your phone and this app!
Genuine Touch-sensitive Pads:
iGOG introduces the impossible: touch sensitive pads that respond to how hard you hit them! iGOG accurately responds to your touch. The harder you strike the pads, the louder the drum hit. Finally, a drum machine that plays like a real kit.
Mic Triggering Mode:
iGOG also lets you play other objects, such as a table and turns those hits into real drum sounds while you play! This gives a whole new dimension to “air drumming”.
Drumagog Technology:
iGOG contains a powerful drum sample engine which captures every nuance of a drum hit. Because a snare drum sounds different the harder it’s played, iGOG’s samples are packed with Dynamic Multisamples to ensure a faithful reproduction. iGOG’s Random Multisamples guarantee that no sample is ever played twice in a row, making rolls and flams sound realistic. Hi-hats take advantage of iGOG’s Positional Multisamples, which provide a smooth transition between closed and open styles. Simply slide your finger across the rectangular pad. iGOG also automatically switches between left and right hand samples, making drum rolls sound amazing.
FEATURES:
8 velocity sensitive drum pads
Comes with 6 free drum kits. More available through the built-in store
Load your own kits using standard wav, aif or Drumagog .gog files
Hi-hat and Ride pads change articulation as you slide across the pads
Built-in sequencer with standard midi file support
MIDI export: save your sequences to your computer
Sequencer features quantize, metronome, time signature, count-in, tempo and loop
Backing track mode lets you play and record sequences in perfect sync to an mp3 file
Mic trigger mode lets you play drums by tapping on objects, such as a table
Built-in file transfer mode allows you to copy files between iGOG and your computer
Mixdown feature lets you create an audio mix of your sequence
VelAUcity – Just because something is impossible doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
iGOG’s proprietary VelAUcity technology does the unthinkable and turns the iPhone’s screen into touch sensitive drum pads. Play loud, play soft, or play a full-blown crescendo on a crash cymbal, iGOG will capture every nuance of your performance. Just plug in your headphones and start playing.
NOTE: VelAUcity is only available on iPhone devices. if you’re using an iPod Touch, VelAUcity is disabled.

I had a dream and in that dream there was a Kaoss Pad for iOS devices. Let’s call it iKP. For those who are not familiar with the Kp3 Kaoss Pad it is an effects processor with a X/Y interface and is designed for live use. The iKP app will most likely be a stripped down version with basic effects like gating, delay, filter, bit crunch, chorus, and flange. Additional effects, as they are developed, will be in app upgrades that can be purchased as additional modules. The iKP HD will integrate seamlessly with Alesis’ iO Dock audio interface allowing performers to plug their rig directly into the iPad. iPhone users can use the iRig interface by IK Multimedia to do the same. I’m thinking the iKP will be announced at Winter NAMM 2012 but hoping it will be out before then!
In the meantime you can enjoy the SynthPad app which was based on a similar concept except it’s a bit more like the Kaossilator.
SynthPad is an instrument inspired by the interface of the Korg Kaossilator family of devices. Instead relying on piano keys to register notes, SynthPad uses a dedicated touch surface to control the sounds. Additionally the Y-Axis on the touch surface can be used to control different parameters, like filter cutoff and LFO values, making it an extremely expressive little toy. Its sound engine is a fully programmable monophonic virtual analog synthesizer. Among its parameters one can find: – 2 oscillators with different wave shapes – Fine tuning of the second oscillator – Volume Envelope – LFO modulation – A Low-Pass filter – Filter Envelope – Arpeggio Additionally, the scale and the key on the touch surface can also be configured, making this instrument ideal for live improvisation. SAVING PATCHES: It is possible to save patches after you have modified them by following these steps: – Modify a patch parameter – Notice that the bank letter for that patch turns red – Touch the red bank letter to save the modification – Your patch has now been saved. (Notice the red status on the bank letter is gone) ENABLING THE LOOPER The looper is just a special setting on the DELAY feature. To activate it, do the following: – Go to the delay settings page – Turn the DELAY ON – Set the TIME to 100% – Set the FEEDBACK to about 75% – Set the MIX to about 75%

iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle).
Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Native Instruments, The Grammt Museum and many more.
