iSEM Oberheim SEM iPad

iSEM is a recreation of the classic 1974 Oberheim SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module), one of the world’s first self-contained synthesizer modules and the first to bear the “Oberheim Electronics” name.

The Oberheim SEM was made famous by artists and bands such as Lyle Mays, Jan Hammer, Joseph Zawinul, Supertramp, 808 State, Vince Clarke and Depeche Mode.

Based on the TAE® technology found in our Oberheim SEM V software, iSEM brings back the sound and special characteristics of this iconic synth in an sonically accurate and expanded touch-based emulation.

What you can do with the iSEM?

The iSEM is a powerful instrument capable of producing a wide range of warm analog sounds.

Reproducing the unique SEM architecture, with its oscillator sync, characteristic filter shape and specific envelope response, the iSEM is able to generate the fat basses that have made the Oberheim brand so popular. Thanks to its simple and clever PW and pitch modulations, it is also very easy to produce moving and lively leads.

Its remarkable 12 dB/oct multimode filter is a real blast from the past, becoming an awesome weapon in the context of current electronic music. This unique module can instantly tailor your sound to fat, crisp, or spectral textures with access to all the nuances in between…

iSEM comes with over 500 sounds that you can browse through and play. You can also easily create your own sounds with the easy to use interface.

Play iSEM’s numerous sounds from the iPad keyboard or control iSEM from a MIDI keyboard or other app via CoreMIDI and integrate it into your studio or live performance.

If you are an owner of of the Arturia SEM V software on your Mac or PC, you can even import and export sounds between your laptop or desktop SEM V and iSEM.

Harp App For iPad

Compatibility:Requires iOS 6.0 or later.compatible with iPhone4 or later,iPad,and iPod touch(5th Generation).optimized for iPhone 5

Handy Harp explains the complex mechanisms behind a concert harp through sounds and pictures, in an easy-to-use application where the design of harp pedals has been carefully recreated. Using the touch capabilities offered by the iPhone and iPad screen, you can manipulate these pedals easily, hear the changes of interval, and also watch the rotating discs prompting these changes.

Furthermore, the application allows you to quickly display 45 chord types, 28 modes, and the associated pedal settings. It supports MIDI Wi-Fi, allowing you to transfer play data from your iPhone or iPad to a Digital Audio Workstation as well as pedal diagrams to softwares such as Sibelius and Finale.

Handy Harp can be used in many different contexts: for those who want to understand the mechanisms of the harp, for harpists who want to write a pedal diagram on their sheet music, for composers and arrangers who want to try out different kinds of glissandi, and many other situations.

Handy Harp is available not only in Japanese, but also in English and in French. Its goal is to provide an easy-to-use tool that will become the new best friend of harpists, composers of film music and orchestrators. This is the beginning of a new era for harp!

[28 modes, 45 pre-recorded chords]
45 chords are pre-recorded (in twelve tones), for a total of 540 possibilities. 28 modes are also available (in twelve tones) for a total of 336 pedals tuning possibilities. It is possible to save up to 60 additional pedal settings.

[Rule Types]
You can select two different types of rules when displaying the scales and octaves: one that is commonly used by harpists, and the other based on the piano keyboard.

[Irregular Tuning]
Usually, each note on a harp is tuned in flat, but in order to support certain types of music, Handy Harp also features irregular tuning, thus allowing you to perform pieces of contemporary music.

[Keyboard]
In order to check the status of the harp pedals, and in addition to a concrete display, a piano keyboard shows the select notes (using letters). This allows you to easily check the tuning of the pedals.

[MIDI Wi-Fi]
By connecting your device to a computer through MIDI Wi-Fi, you can transfer your play data in MIDI format to a DAW and record them. This function will prove invaluable to composers and arrangers who lost a considerable amount of time recording each harp section.

[Transfer your pedal diagram to a music notation software]
You can transfer pedal diagrams to music notation softwares such as Sibelius and Finale.

Handy Harp is available for $13.99

Looptical iPhone Music Production

Don’t let the name fool you, this app is so, so much more than a “looper”. It’s a full music production environment, with great samples, effects, advanced mixing and automation capabilities. You can add your own audio tracks, whether it be with the built in mic, audiobus, inter-app audio, or a professional audio interface. Ever wanted a recording studio in the palm of your hand? Looptical is a complete music production solution for iPhone and iPod touch.

Create looped sections of music and combine them to form larger musical sections until you have a finished song. Going from an initial riff idea to full track is easy with Looptical. Then mix the track with comprehensive effects and fully automated mixer controls, or export the MIDI and component audio tracks to your DAW when back at the studio to take your song one step further.

– Use the Latched Arpeggiator to turn simple chords into sequences of notes.

  • iPad Loops is an iOS music production blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). Some of the apps that contain my sounds are Synth One, EG Segments, Hammerhead, Retronyms AudioCopy, Audio Evolution Mobile, and iMPC Pro. My work is published by Roland, Antares, Magix, Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Native Instruments, The Grammt Museum and many more.
