Tune Maker iOS Music Lab

Tune Maker is a music composition tool which helps you to understand the basic components of music and to quickly begin creating your own compositions.

Tune Maker can be used by musicians of all levels. Beginners can start using basic chords, rhythms and melodies. Professional musicians will appreciate the ability to construct very advanced chords, using non-standard time signatures, adding multiple melody lines, MIDI export, recording chords and notes from a MIDI keyboard and many more.

FEEL THE BEAT

There is not any strict sequence of steps in music composition, but if you are just starting, you can begin by adding some drums to your tune. It will create a basic structure of the future composition.

HEAR THE MELODY

Try to hear a melody in your head or sing it first. Then start drawing it on the melody track canvas. Hit Play and listen while you are working on it. To make it more dynamic, use the velocity tool to adjust volume of individual notes.

HARMONIZE

In music, the process of adding chords to a melody is called harmonization. Tune Maker allows you to construct almost any possible chord and it will help you to find chords that mach your melody.

ANIMATE CHORDS WITH AN ARPEGGIO

In Tune Maker, an arpeggio track is a rhythmic pattern for your chord progression. You can think of it as a right hand pattern when you play on a guitar. It can be like strumming, bass & chord or a single-note pattern. Tune Maker automatically maps this pattern to your chords and produces appropriate note pitches.

RECORD YOUR PERFORMANCE

Enable recording and start playing on the note editor’s scale buttons or use your MIDI controller connected over USB of Bluetooth. You can also record chords with your MIDI keyboard. Tune Maker will recognize chords you are playing and insert them to the chord track.

CHOOSE YOUR INSTRUMENTS

Select an instrument from the built-in collection. Play CoreMIDI-compatible apps. Or plug in any Audio Unit Extension Instrument available on the App Store.

BUILD A COMPLETE SONG

You can duplicate an existing section and add some alterations to it or you can just repeat a section. For example, if you have some kind of chorus section in your song, you could repeat it in multiple places inside your song. And if you decide to modify this section later, the changes will affect all the repeats.

ORGANIZE, SHARE & EXPORT

Tune Maker is a Document Based App. This allows you to organize your projects in the way that works best for you. You can store your projects on a local folder, on iCloud Drive, or on any other supported cloud storage like DropBox or GoogleDrive. You can share easily using AirDrop, Mail or Message. You can also export your project as a MIDI file if you want to continue working on it in a DAW like Ableton or GarageBand.

Virsyn Band Delay

The multi-band delay BandDelay is an exciting tool for sound design and loop manipulation in realtime. In contrast to common delay processors BandDelay splits the frequency spectrum of the input signal into 27 bands and applies a separate delay unit to each band. The delay times can be synchronised to the host tempo generating nearly infinite rhythmical and sonic variations of the input signal. For each of the delay bands you can specify the delay time, the level and the feedback amount separately. These parameter changes can even be automised in realtime for glitch free rhythmical morphings. A few high level parameters let you change the delay times and feedbacks of all delays with the turn of a single knob.

– 27 band realtime multiband delay.
– Frequency dependent level, delay time and feedback
– Linear phase precision filters for maximal transparency
– Tempo syncable delay times up to 6 seconds.
– Meta parameter for quick access to rhythm variations

– Effect AudioUnit for use in hosts like Garageband, Cubasis, AUM and others
– Full AU parameter automation
– Ableton Link compatible
– stand alone / Audiobus 3 / IAA

OB-Xd Synth for iOS
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

OB-Xd is based on the Oberheim OB-X. It attempts to recreate its sound and behavior, but as the original was very limited in some important ways, a number of things were added or altered to the original design.

OB-Xd was designed to sound as good and as rich as the original. It implements micro random detuning. Also, like many synths of the OB-X’s generation, the OB-Xd has no internal effects so its sounds and textures can be greatly enhanced by the use of additional processing like chorus, reverb, delay, etc.

JAX Decimator (Audio Unit)

JAX Decimator continues our [ Just An Extension ] series of specialised audio effect processors and delivers a distortion effect alike audio unit (AUv3), which is expert in degrading digital audio, controllable in realtime (also via direct MIDI controllers). It is registered as a MIDI controlled audio effect. Parameter automation is possible too.

Audio Units are Apples preferred method of providing shared audio components (extensions) for system wide usage on all of their platforms. Unlike with old IAA (Inter-App-Audio), multiple instances can be loaded and process audio streams concurrently. The extensions integrate into the external hosts and behave like their internal components, but running in a separate process.

Reducing resolution of audio surprisingly generates paradox but interesting sonic results due to the fact, that a wide range of new overtones is produced this way. Low fidelity audio of that sort therefore is a production secret of many professional musicians and also mostly the reason for the legendary characteristics of some ancient production equipment caused by the technical limitations of that time. Modern styles often will profit from controlled degradation of certain parts, adding som magic and spice to the entire result.

With JAX Decimator you can artificially and creatively degrade your audio streams mainly based on 2 fundamentally different reducing mechanisms. These are step-less sample rate reduction and fractional bit depth reduction. Additionally there are several specialised filters available to fine-tune the results of these quite raw sounding signal degenerators. The audio effect also includes some complex DSP boost from our analog modelled JAF Collection.

A manual is embedded into the distribution app, which works as a minimal audio unit host for testing the shipped extension. If you deinstall the app, the audio unit is removed also from the system and no longer available to other apps.

  • iPad Loops is a music app blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps for iOS musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my loops are Retronyms AudioCopy, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic, and Audio Elements. My work is published by Magix Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Xmix, and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
