Audiobus 3 Now With Link Support
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , ,

Send live audio or MIDI from one Audiobus-compatible app to another: add effects on top of your favourite synth, use your favourite step sequencer to drive the whole lot, and record it all in your favourite DAW, sampler or looper. Plug in a MIDI keyboard, run it through an arpeggiator or a key quantizer, and record the result in your DAW, or drive several different sound generators with a keyboard splitter. The possibilities are endless.

Then save your setup in a preset to be restored with one touch later on.

With a completely new MIDI routing system, support for Apple’s new Audio Unit Extensions standard, a new built-in mixer, and huge new workflow improvements, Audiobus 3 represents a big step forward for mobile music making.

What’s New in Version 3.0.5
– Audiobus 3 now has tempo controls, and Ableton Link support! Keep Audio Unit Extensions in sync with your other apps, and control your session tempo right from within Audiobus.
– Bypass Audio Unit Extension effects with the press of a button

Other improvements:

– Show more detailed progress when clearing big sessions
– Fixed launch issues with apps like SynthMaster Player.
– Active session did not recover on incoming telephone call or Siri interruption. Fixed!
– Fixed endless spinning wheel on MIDI hardware output after loading a preset.
– Fixed some stuck note bugs.
– Fixed a crash when saving a preset while a filter keyword has been entered into the search field.
– Fixed a launch issue when switching between very complex presets.
– Fixed a “Tap to Fix” issue when many ports of an app were added to a connection graph
– Require user to reboot the device, if intermediate port cannot be connected.
– Fixed graphical glitches when switching between presets.
– Instances of Audio Unit Extensions were not sorted by alphabet in connection panel. Fixed!
– Fixed an audio glitch when ejecting an input app currently emitting sound.
– We now automatically remove added pipelines on removing a MIDI output port.

Stompwatch MIDI Remote For iPhone and Apple Watch
Author View comments Tags Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Stompwatch

Stompwatch is a virtual MIDI pedal board, designed to control both apps and MIDI hardware, using the screen, a Bluetooth keyboard, the Audiobus Remote app, or the Apple Watch. It is easy to configure and versatile.

The app features ten pages, each with ten pads. Each page can be configured to send MIDI to any number of destinations, while each pad can be configured to send a MIDI note, a chord, or either program change or control change messages. Toggle swiftly from one page to another, to control and configure all of your MIDI gear.

With MIDI over Bluetooth, you can use your iPhone to control an iPad. Use your Apple Watch to select different presets on a guitar effects app. With Audiobus Remote, you can control both MIDI gear and Audiobus controls in one location. Use the pads to trigger drum samples or play synthesizers. With MIDI, you can do almost anything.

Stompwatch supports conventional Bluetooth keyboards — if the app is in the foreground, you can trigger pads by typing on the keyboard.

Audiobus Remote

With Audiobus Remote, transport your Audiobus-compatible music apps’ controls onto a second iPad or iPhone: it’s a second screen for your Audiobus session, powered by Bluetooth LE and Apple’s iBeacon technology.

— Audiobus Remote requires iPad 3, iPad Mini, iPhone 4s, iPod Touch 5th Generation and newer devices —

Start Audiobus Remote for the first time, then simply hold it near your other iPad or iPhone running Audiobus: the two devices will pair immediately, and you’ll see the apps running on your Audiobus device appear on Audiobus Remote’s control surface. You will see all the Audiobus Connection Panel controls you’re used to, including app switching, transport and record controls.

Apps can also define Remote Triggers, providing access to app-specific functions within Audiobus Remote. For example:

– Record or toggle individual loops in Loopy HD.
– Trigger drum samples in DM-1.
– Move between presets in Bias FX and JamUp.
– Change presets and adjust effect controls in Holderness Media’s effects apps including Johnny and Caramel.
– Trigger individual sections in Sector, and switch modes.
– Play a mini version of SoundPrism Electro in Audiobus Remote.

All this on a second screen, while you can stay focused in one app on your main device.

  • iPad Loops is a music app blog dedicated to exposing the best iPad apps for iOS musicians, producers, and Djs. This is not a database of every app. It is, however, one of useful recommendations from someone with many years in music production. I try to update it on a daily basis (ok sometimes every two days) and I do my best to post useful apps only. My name is Jason Donnelly (Dj Puzzle). You might know me from my royalty free loop packs and sound design. Some of the apps that contain my loops are Retronyms AudioCopy, LP-5, iPRO.DJSAMPLER, Looptastic, and Audio Elements. My work is published by Magix Soundtrack Loops, Sample Logic, Acoustica, Xmix, and many more. Subscribe to our RSS feed below to get updated when new apps are posted.
